Has anyone stomach stretched?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm just curious to know if anyone ever experienced that their stomach stretched. If so how far out are you and how much weight have you gained?

Only asking because someone told me my surgery was a waste because with time you gain the weight back. I know of two people who had the sleeve done lost I've one hundred pounds and is now gaining weight, granted he's drinking alcohol and soda and eating the wrong things. Just curious.

  • I havent had my surgery yet but I know that this is a life time change and that you have to be prepared to go all the way!!!! You can gain your wieght back but...WHO wants to go through so much and make it to where you have always wanted to be to give it all up on a soda and junk food...
  • Foood is fuel and we should all use it as that.... It is ok to taste the foods you used to love and not go over board or do it everyday or every week it should be on rare occasions...you make your own choices!!!!! I know what I am going to do... I AM TAKING MY LIFE BACK!!!!!

Ya know those pictures of the tribes in National Geographic that insert dinner plate size discs in their lower lips ??!!.......Well, anything can be stretched if you try.......So in the case of our sleeves, if you don't stick by the guidelines to prevent it.......well then, I'm sure it will stretch and I'm sure due to those efforts you will gain back the weight.

It's no mystery. Just stick to your sleeve's limits and eat healthy and screw the stuff the skeptics rant about. This is what I signed on for. It's my new normal and I intend to make it last the rest of my life.

Alcohol & sugary drinks cant stretch your sleeve, but they are empty calories. The stomach after sleeve cannot regrow to th esize it was before, but people who regain find ways to eat the junk that slides through easily and adds up the calories. People who stick to the Protein First rule continue to feel the restriction of the sleeve. It does relax abit after surgery and can hold more, but that is why changing habits of what is eaten is important. It may be cliche, but the sleeve is not a magic cure, it is a tool that when used properly can mean maintaining healthy weight loss. Ultimately each of us is responsible for the outcome.

Just like prior to surgery, if someone is drinking alcohol, cokes and eating slider, high caloric food, they'll gain/re-gain weight. WLS is a tool, not a magic bullet. There is no end date, it's a life long commitment. Changes must be made or it is a waste of time and money.

Everything above is true. I eat a lot but I eat roughly 5-6 servings of veggies (ok not a cup of each but you get the idea) and lean meats, no red meat (I can't eat it, doggone it), no fried foods, pizza, no McDonalds, etc.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
