Ok guys I have a question. I had my surgery 3/12/14 and since then I've lost 80 pounds. Well for the past month or more my stomach and legs constantly feel sore to touch and they have a tingling sensation almost as if on the verge of going to sleep. It's weird feeling! I'm wondering if maybe it's bc of my extra skin pulling down to make it sore ?? I don't know anyone else have this feeling?? I go to my doctor this Thursday to see what he has to say.

I really don't know. It's a good thing you're going to see your surgeon. Let us know what they say!

So I am 12 weeks out and only consuming 400-450 calories per day. My surgeon said I should be getting no less than 900-1000 calories a day at three months out. I don't understand how I could possibly eat that much, I'd have to force myself to eat all day long! I feel like I am sucking at this.

How's everyone doing 4 months out? I feel great. I have been having some issues with low blood sugar but I'm trying to be extra vigilant about watching out for carbs and sugar and that's helping.

Here I am. Down almost 80lbs and 1 pair of glasses. I had Lasik and PRK before my WLS after wearing glasses since I was in first grade so needless to say my overall appearance has changed a lot the last year.

I'm not quite 4 months yet (3/18/14), but have been doing pretty well. I'm down several sizes and 70 pounds. I'm much more active and feel so much better. My arthritis has also eased up some, I'm sure due to less stress on my joints. Some days I still struggle to get my Water in, but for the most part, this has been a very good experience. :)

I'm down about 60lbs since surgery (3-17-14). Just had total hip replacement surgery on 6-17 so had to lose the 10 lbs of Fluid added and the lack of exercise. Needless to say I am very pleased and feel so much better!

Is anybody else having a problem with slow weight loss and Fluid retention? What I mean is my weight loss can be really slow then all of a sudden it will pick up and I will lost 5 to 10 pounds relatively quickly then almost instantly ( like within 24 to 48 hours) I will have regained all the pounds lost. I'm guessing this is fluid retention but nothing is really working for me to keep this from happening. I have cut my sodium intake and have increased, decreased then increased again my Water intake and none of it is helping. My weight loss is very, very slow and it seems like the only way I lose weight is if I eat nothing. I can pretty much eat whatever I want and I don't get sick but I don't pig out just because I can eat normally either. My nutritionist says I just need to increase my metabolism by eating more frequently because I pretty much used to starve myself to lose weight and that my body may just be used to not having a high intake of food and holding on to the little bit it gets. I guess I'm just venting and thinking am I not doing this right or is it that I am one of the unlucky few that it just doesn't work for. I'm hoping that in the next few weeks things pick up.

So I am 3 months out and doing ok. My weight loss has been pretty good. My highest weight was 307 lbs and my surgery weight was 297 lbs I am now 233 lbs and very happy with my progress thus far. Does any one have any suggestions on how I can thicken my hair. I had my hair twisted up for the past couple months and just recently took them out and I have noticed some thinning in the front of my hair. My nutritionist said that it will get better after a year but I cannot wait a year for my hair to thicken up. I have started Biotin just wondering if there is anything else I can do. I have naturally curly hair.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
