I have a question about my incisions. Some of them are healing nicely. I have 2 though that the strips fell off and they are open and basically just a hole. Is that normal? It has me concerned. We are keeping it covered and putting an ointment on it. What do you think? Thanks!

By "open", do you mean a deep hole or just a divot. My biggest incision never opened, but I did have a pretty deep indent that sunk into the skin. It has gotten better over the past 15 months but I can still feel where it sinks in. Even if it doesn't hurt, I would contact my doctor about it. And leaving it unsealed could cause the scaring to be worse.

When do you go back for a follow up with your surgeon? Make sure you show them your incisions so they can ensure they are healing okay. A "divot" is better than a keloid scar that bulges! I have a couple of those. Everyone's body responds to an incision differently, so it is hard to predict how good or bad your scar will be prior to surgery.

I had the same worry with one if mine..like a hole..but not deep. I was directed by my doctor to use. antibacterial spray..keep it loosly covered and it will heal. It did. Just shiw your doctor and follow directions.

Can you email pics of the incisions to your doctor. That's what I did its just as good as if you were standing there in front of them.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
