4 days post op! Confused

Recommended Posts

I'm fours days post op and I'm having bad esophagus contractions or spasms even when I swallow my own saliva or burp.. They are painful. Is this normal. I never had reflux or gerd so I am not sure what this is.. They said they didn't put any Fluid in my band but I swear I restriction with Clear Liquids going down. Please respond with anything you think will help.. I'm starting to go into spazz out mode.

You need to call your doctor today he has an on call number. I wouldn't waste time calling him.

I agree with Cheryl, call your surgeon. They didn't intentionally put any Fluid in my band initially, either, but I was having a lot of the same symptoms you are describing. I couldn't even take the tiniest sip of Water without intense pain. I was crying and telling my husband that if THIS was what the band was supposed to be like...I wanted it OUT! When I finally got in to see someone 7 days post op, they accessed my port and found 1cc had been accidentally left in the band after testing it. As soon as the Fluid was out I had instant relief.

Called surgeon his first question was did you have hernia repair.. I said yes , he said that the repair was the cause of the spasms. It can even happen when you take a deep breaths is what he said.. It only last for a few seconds.. As far as restriction he said ull have restriction until swelling goes down.. At any rate it felt good to be reassured by the surgeon. Thanks for the push.

I had a hernia repair as well when I got my lapband put in and I also noticed some strange spasms! My surgeon's office said it will ease up and it has :) I'm almost 2 weeks post op now and I rarely have spasms anymore. When you feel more restricted, I've found it helpful to sip hot liquids like tea and broth. It seems to soothe the band, if that makes any sense haha. Best of luck to you!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
