So getting back on normal foods, wondering what kind of cereal to try.

Recommended Posts

Finally getting on to normal foods again, been eating eggs and Cream of Wheat for a while and have been wondering what other Cereal I could try.

I use to do the Dannon Lite and fit yogurt with a 1/4 cup of Kashi go lean cereal, was wondering if that's some thing that can be tried after surgery?

I like Kellogg's Special K Red Berries or Cascadian Farm's (any flavor) I really like the Great Value Greek yogurt. At this stage, I would get your Nut's approval before trying anything new.

I like Fiber One Protein cereal. I get the cranberry one. I don't put milk or yogurt in it, I just eat it like granola.

I don't do cereal and milk anymore, had it twice in 6 months and was not good to me. I was a milk drinker before my bypass, but have had less than 1/2 gallon in 9 months.

Try Bear Naked granola. It is low carb and high Protein. I haven't had it in milk yet but add the 1/4 cup to my yogurt, dannon light and fit Greek. I stay away from cereal since I dumped twice on it. Most, I feel, has too much carbs for me at a time.

My NUT told me no cereals, ever. I loved oatmeal pre surgery. She said there is really no good way to go back. There is just not enough Protein. She told me that it is just not a smart choice. I am currently 8 months out. I had this conversation with her at my six month follow up.

Just had my first months visit with after surgery NT, we talked about cereal, so far the Cream of Wheat and Oatmeal are ok, also eggs, though have had those a lot and getting tired of eating the same foods, she told us to just try other and see how I react to them because of dumping, getting my Protein hasn't been a problem since I drink milk and Protein shakes. My only issue is getting fluids in, most days its usually between 40oz to 50oz.

Does your shakes count towards your fluids? My NUT said I can count them as both protein and Fluid. Most days I don't count them as fluids though.

Yes. They count toward both. I normally don't count them as fluids either. I only count my Water.< /p>

I try to avoid counting them towards Fluid, though sometimes I've added them because, drinking has been a major issue since surgery, I use to be able to drink 88oz of Water daily, sadly since surgery my stomach doesn't like water, it sends it into spasms, I've been able to drink milk, coffee and V8 diet splash ok. I've tried adding crystal lite to water but it doesn't help with the spasms.

Try changing the temperature of the water. I can't drink water that's too cold. If it's room temp or warm it's fine though.

Special K Protein Cereal is what I have when I am needing a cereal fix. It has 10g of Protein. 19 carbs with 3 Fiber so it is 16g of net carbs. 120 calories without milk in 3/4 cup. 7 sugars.

I don't eat it often but I have it on hand.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
