Hi Amy, This is the right place for all your questions and support. All the best!!!

Sweet eaters - what was your story with gastric bypass?
I do not get dumping syndrome and I eat whatever I want. (sweets included) I stay very active and I use my food scale to measure out my portions. On weeks where I feel a little bit out of control I go back to counting calories. I also still weigh myself every Monday morning. I give myself a 5 pound swing either way from my goal weight. All the best!!!

Motivation
Hi Tami, Congrats on your success!! Do you have support groups where you are? Nothing beats human interaction in my book. When I start feeling like I am going off track, I tell myself to live in the "now" and get back to basics. For me that means two things: Exercising for 30 minutes a day and keeping my portion sizes under control. (Keep using my food scale) I tried kayaking this summer and I love it. So, maybe try a new activity?

Question about time off from work
I took two full weeks off of work. I had zero complications. I didn't have a lot of energy the first week. I didn't do anything around the house. I had help for that. I also don't remember driving at all. All the best!!!

30 or 60 minutes after a meal?
I do 15/15. I still won't drink and eat at the same time. I know others post-op that do.

a switch flipped and now I'm always Hungry
I have found that sometimes I mistake my hunger for thirst. On days that I drink my 80 to 100 oz of Water, I do not eat as much or feel as hungry. My snack idea: water...

Jack links jerky bites post op
I started off eating the cans of shredded beef jerky. It is made by Jacks Links. My NUT had no problem with me doing that. I didn't start eating the jerky until I was cleared for stage three foods.

When did you start running after surgery?
I was cleared for any type of exercise ten weeks post op.

Why do men do this?
About a year ago, I had a female co-worker tell my good friend (also a co-worker, and female) that: "I never noticed Trever when he was fat." I still don't know how to take that. For the record I have yet to understand what women see in us men.

Fruit problems?
The only fruits I have tried so far are strawberries, apples, and watermelons. I have had no issues with those. I haven't tried bananas yet. They just don't sound good to me.

Feeling discouraged no support
Hello Mia!! Welcome to a place where (for the most part) you will find people who will support you, encourage you, and give your their heartfelt advice if asked. I just so happen to be one of those people. Congrats on your decision to have WLS. I wish you all the best!! Drop me a line anytime.
