Having a rough time and nervous...

Recommended Posts

Per my insurance I had to have a 6 month supervised diet. My Nut wanted me to lose 25 lbs in this time period but I only lost 10 lbs. I was doing well until my little brother got sick with double pneumonia, was in the hospital (was doing better) and then passed away unexpectedly on 1-7-14. He was only 19 and I am 22. Needless to say I have been in a horribly deep depression. I don't know if I can take anymore heartbreak if my insurance doesn't approve my surgery. *Picture is of him and I. Yes, he had Downs*

Sorry for your loss, please take time for yourself and to grieve. Do you have a good support system?

Contact your NUT and explain the circumstances, there might be some leeway because of the situation.

You must be overwhelmed by everything at the moment and I am offering up prayers for you (hope you don't mind), I hope your weight loss journey can continue.{{hugs}}.

Ugh, that's really tough! Have you talked to your NUT and Psych about this? Does your ins have a mandatory weight loss stipulation about the 6 month diet? I would definately tell your NUT what's going on and ask what the exact requirements are for your ins. Maybe they can get the ins approval, but let you do a 8 or 10 month so you get off the full 25 that they are wanting. The weight loss before you have surgery is to shrink your liver so they lower the chances of accidentally lacerating it during surgery. It is a safety measure, but they might be able to do an ultra sound to see if your liver has shrunk enough? Don't stress too much about the surgery, in the end I'm sure it will all come together for you. It might take a little longer, but where there's a will, there's a way. Take some time to greive and tell your team what's up, I'm sure they'll understand. Good luck!

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your precious brother. I know that is enough to set any of us back. Today is a new day and you will have to start over to make yourself healthy. I had BCBS and they required a 3 month weight loss program but never stipulated a certain percentage or amount. Most doctors offices don't support this long preliminary diet so don't tell you what you haave to lose, they just encourage you to lose. What the doctors are concerned about is the pre-op diet you must do prior to surgery. Don't beat yourself up about not losing that much on the dr supervised diet. If we could lose weight and keep it off on our own, none of us would need this surgery. Take the time to heal your heart over your loss and focus on getting healthy. Dedicate your journey to your brother and keep him with you always. You will do fine, try not to worry as this process is not meant to add worry and stress but to show you how to get healthy.

O honey I am so sorry to hear about you loosing your sweet brother. There is nothing in the world that can replace your connection you had/have with him being in your life. Praying for healing to happen in your life. Hoping for strenght during this time and wisdom to make the right choices regarding your wls diet. I think it is very important for you to contact your NUT, ask them for help and guidance.

Remember your brother would only want the best for you and your life, so take the necessary steps to make him proud.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
