April 2014 sleevers

Recommended Posts

I was out for the rest of the day after mine.. I wasn't driving though..I was fine but I may not be the norm..

I took the night off so that i wouldnt feel drained from the meds then have to work a 12 hour night shift. But they scheduled my scope at 7:30 and my physical at 1. So I hope I am not gorked the whole day. My Dr is about an hour and fourty five min from home. So my husband is going w me. Hope he finds a good book by then to take.

The endoscopy Is a cakewalk. They sedate you and you pass out and wake up and it's over.

Wooohooo time is going by so fast April Sleevers!! We're already in the second week of March. I'm in my last week of antibiotics, can't wait till that's over; however, it is preparing me for taking Vitamins daily. I know some people are still waiting for approval, or to start your two week preop (classes, doc appts, etc), or just waiting.. but, "Oh The Places We Will Go" Dr. Seuss, once we wake up from surgery! Yeah I'm HAPPY, clap along if you feel like happyness is the truth!! Okay sorry for being cheesy lol :)

Welcome to all the new comers!

I'm April 7th with Dr. Ortiz at OCC in Tijuana. I am nervous and excited, too. I hope it's the end of all the crazy ups and downs. I did HCG as well. I figure if I can do 500 calories of only 10 different foods for 40 days, I can do the pre and post op diets!

I am having my sleeve Friday, April 11th in Tijuana with Dr. Cabrera.
I have done A LOT of research and I feel very good about my decision.
I am SO nervous and very excited.

I have been too big and sick for too long & so very tired of losing 20 pounds for 2 months and gaining 27 back... we've all been there......no more HGC, Medifast, Atkins, etc.
I am so thankful we now have this as an option.
I wish us all the very best luck and health!

April 2nd!! Houston area! EGD Friday and next week pre-op and start a 14 liquid diet. I pray that all goes well for you all and myself. I'm very nervous, anxious but also feel that's its time for a change. My biggest weight was 308 and I managed to reach 205 on my own, took about 2 and half years. Just recently had a baby and am back up at235 and have tried dieting and excercise for the past year and it's been very hard with only a 20 pd loss.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
