10 Days post op... gained 2 pounds?

Recommended Posts

I'm sure it has to be some weird Water weight or something. I am getting my 64 + ounces of water and 70g of Protein in without a problem. But find it odd that I have actually gained 2 pounds in the last couple days.

I haven't been able to find any threads with something similar... please tell me I'm not the only one. Not even getting 300 calories a day right now.

I am down 2 pounds overall from the morning of surgery, but up 2 since this weekend.

Would like to hear from others that this happened to them too.

You just had major surgery. Your body is in shock and trying to figure out what you just did to it. Perfectly normal.

My suggestion is to stay off the scale for a while - let your body and new tiny tummy recover. There's not way with what you're taking in that you're gaining fat - it's not possible (a pound of fat is something like 3500 calories). You're losing inches, I guarantee.

Relax, sip and walk - be gentle with your body and new tummy.

Wow! You are doing awesome with your liquids. I am barely getting 48ozs in and my surgery was four weeks ago. I would suggest to NOT get on the scale every day. I don't. Your body is still healing and weight will fluctuate. Hang in there. I agree that you are losing inches. My family keeps saying that I am shrinking.

I agree that you received lots of IV fluids, and your body is healing and adjusting.

You are loosing inches.

Congratulations on your surgery.

Thanks all! I think reading these boards and seeing all the different ways our bodies adapt, feel, and change has helped as well as the fact that everyone seems to experience success overall, despite lulls and challenges.

I'm 13 days post op now and pretty sure I'm about to start my period. For me... that's typically about 6 to 8 pounds of retention on a typical month, I'm pretty convinced I'll have a big drop once it passes given I have all the symptoms EXCEPT the weight gain... pretty much staying steady.

Thanks for the support and encouragement!

Your body is adjusting Water retention fluctuates the body loses weight daily and sometimes in spurts. It takes at least 6 weeks on average for your body to catch up basicaly the healing process. Everything you described is normal.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
