PROTEIN HELP PLEASE!

Im on the second phase of my revision from band to bypass surgery. Having trouble finding Protein to accomodate the soft/mushy food phase...HELP!!!!

Yogurt, Babybel light cheese, cottage cheese, nonfat milk, almond or soy milk, hummus, edamame (chew well), Peanut Butter (lots of folks love PB2), eggs and of course shakes and powders. I'm sure you'll get lots of other suggestions as well!

Just because your in mushy stage I would still do Protein Drink for Breakfast. . Some people on here are really pushing too much Protein. . We really only need 40-60 a day per my doc

My fav.....homemade refried Beans and soft scrambled eggs with salsa.

Just because your in mushy stage I would still do Protein drink for breakfast. . Some people on here are really pushing too much Protein. . We really only need 40-60 a day per my doc

My doc requires 60-80 of protein per day.

tuna or canned chicken mixed with light mayo is good in the soft stage.

Yes my doc recommends atleast 70 grams of Protein a day. I just bought some can chicken and tuna today...the tuna didnt agree too well..im gone try the chicken for v lunch tomorrow. Thanks for your responses.

All declare different. My doc only wants me to have 1 Protein drink a day for first 6 weeks

Mine is pretty similar, the one shake a day and that's only til we move to the last eating stage. Then my dr wants all protein to come from whole foods and not shakes.< /p>

All docs are different, and you need to follow your docs orders. Please keep in mind that activity level really determines your protein needs. Protein helps our bodies heal, gives us energy, and provides fuel for your body. Increasing protein can snap you out of a stall, and will also prevent your hair from falling out.

My surgeon requires 100g a day for the guys (60g to 80g for the gals). I've been able to meet that requirement for over two years with one Protein Shake (35g of protein) every day for breakfast. Eating 1600 to 1800 calories a day, 100g of Protein at 4 calories/gram would be 22% to 25% of my daily calorie intake. The Institute of Medicine recommends adults get at least 10% and no more than 35% of daily calories from protein. It should be noted that those numbers are for a "normal" healthy adult. Following surgery when your body is doing some serious healing for several months, higher protein percentages are often recommended for a temporary period of time.

So Peanut Butter is on the soft mushy phase? What do you eat Hummus with?

Even me..this far out..get in 80g's a day...some days better than others..depends on what I got going on..but on the whole, I push for 80

Peanut Butter is a good source of Protein and healthy fats and PB2 is an excellent reduced calorie version. I think of Peanut Butter (smooth as opposed to the crunchy) as being pretty soft and mushy but if there's any doubt, check with your doctor or nutritionist.

Hummus is about as versatile as it gets. Some folks eat it right out of the container with a spoon. Others mix it with mashed potatoes, spread it on tomatoes, mix it with salsa for a spicy version, use it as a dip, make lettuce wraps with it, the list goes on and on. You can flavor hummus with just about anything. And hummus is rich in Protein, Fiber, healthy fats, Vitamins and minerals.       Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
