Had a rough few months but back on track

Recommended Posts

The last 7 months have kind of been a blur, my dad died and my husband and I have separated. So a lot of big changes!!!! I am thankful that even without any fills I am down 87lbs in almost 14 months. And that includes loosing the 15lbs I gained after my dad died. The difference this time is I am not going to beat myself up anymore and I will concentrate on the progress......

Sounds like you've lost a lot of weight, at the same time, gained a lot of strength. Something very positive from such sad/horrible life events. Good for you!

Life can be tough at times. I backed through my garage door($900), slid on the ice as I turned into county courthouse parking lot & slid into pickup with trailer attached ($3500) and caught a thread on a new sweater on corner of rough counter at the Body Shop when getting vehicle damage estimates, which pulled the knit & ruined it ($60). (I wished I had stayed in bed!) all this was yesterday. . . . I'm being very careful today. . . . .

"finelytime" it sounds like you are in a band zone that is leading you to success. Keep your head high and enjoy a most healthy happy life. . . I wish you smooth traveling. . . . :)

"Before a 5K last weekend...." -- who gets to say that? YOU DO! Wow, I am very impressed. And your weight loss is impressive as well, yet the thing that really stands out is how you are not beating yourself up over things anymore. I feel like I am becoming more empowered, too -- that getting the band and getting my appetite under control have given me a new way of treating myself. I am more gentle with myself and I appreciate who I am, how I am. Choosing to have weight loss surgery was such a powerful decision. Yes, it's about the weight, but more than that is the way we have chosen to put ourselves first. Finally. Best wishes to you!

You look amazing! Congrats on being able to lose weight during a very difficult time. I'm so sorry about the loss of your dad and your separation. I lost my dad last year, too, as well as another close family member. My dad's sudden death was the most difficult thing I have ever experienced. At first, I couldn't eat anything. I lost 10 pounds. But, sure enough, after a week or so, my appetite returned with a vengeance, and in the year I ended up gaining over 40 pounds. I was the fattest I had ever been. I just got my band a week ago, so I'm starting off the year "fresh", too. We can both do it! You have done awesome so far! :)

...and they call us the weaker sex. Puhleeze. Congrats to a strong and beautiful lady. Condolences on the loss of your dad and so sorry about the troubles with your husband. I'm really jealous of you doing a 5K. I'm still working on that..but doing what I can till the hips and back are in better shape.

I admire you! Instead of looking for food to soothe your suffering, you have plucked up courage and continued your journey towards your new and healthy life.

I remember that a friend of mine used to say " if you have a problem, eating isn't a solution"

Hugs!

You go girl. If stuffing your face would make your troubles go away, I'd be the first to tell you to do it. But, unfortunately it will just compile and add to your misery. You got this.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
