Gas post sleeve?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I found this site a few weeks before I got my gastric sleeve and it's been so helpful. I got my surgery jan 29. I've lost 50 lbs pre op, haven't weighed in post op. All seems to be going well,

No nausea really or excessive pain. My only issue has been gas. The post op abdominal gas is nearly gone but I notice I can hear my stomach/ GI system after I eat very loudly. It's even woken me at night. Almost sounds like a large drain. I don't know if it's still residual gas or if this is a normal thing?? Thanks :-)

I would like to know the answer to that as well I am 1 month post op and I still have those noises all the time and can feel the rumbling.

The rumbling and gurgling is completely normal. For some of us it quiets down but never goes away completely. I joke that my stomach sounds like a cross between a creaky floor, a child learning to play the Cello, and an elk bugling during mating season!

Yes, it is normal and does quiet down. Or you get used to it!

The gas pain they talk about is usually felt in the shoulder, and from the gas they inflate the intestinal cavity to make room for the surgery... its not inside the stomach or intestines...

yes it is normal to get the "water down the drain" sound. I had it for months, then it went away. It was LOUD. The tummy produces the amount of acid it needed when big... and it takes a while to heal and get to its new "normal". That is my understanding anyway...

My surgery was 1/30 and that is also my only complaint. My stomach is so loud too. Everything I've read is just like previous posts all normal. Hope mine goes away if not I'll be stearing clear of libraries and book stores. Lol

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
