Month one plateau

Recommended Posts

I was banded Dec 27, 2013, did the liquid diet and lost 17 lbs the first week. Now that I'm on mushy food, I seem to be fluctuating with my weight! I'm exercising, and eating(drinking) healthy, but I don't see a difference. Am I doing something wrong? Could I do something more to help the weight come off?

I was banded on December 18th. I lost a lot of weight on the preop diet and the week after surgery. Since then I've leveled out to about 2-3 pounds per week. And I'm really watching my calories and portions and exercising. You will not continue to lose at at a rate like that. Be patient. I think one week I didn't lose at all. Eat healthy, watch portions, chew slow. You'll be great! Plus, watch for that time of the month. I don't lose the week building up toward starting. Then after the first couple of days, I start melting again.

mushie foods tend to be higher in calories. keep track. and eat healthy mushies. mashed potatoes isn't a healthy alternative vs. perhaps some refried Beans or chili. and not a can of chili lol unless it is low fat chili or homemade. cheryl just posted a great one. eggs add some low fat cottage cheese or fat free cheese to it. scrambled eggs add some pico de gallo. make your own cream Soup by making regular Soup broth and than blending all the vegetables and meat together. and watch the amount you are eating. i ate 8 oz of rib eye steak because i could. i shouldn't have but i hadn't learned yet from this site just because you can eat it doesnt mean you should. well good luck

It is not considered a stall unless it is more then 6 to 8 weeks. There will be months you will not lose at all you just have to be patient and stay off the scale. If you keep weighing yourself and it doesn't move you are just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Thanks! I have been pretty hard on myself about losing weight. The scale has not made me very happy lately lol but you're right, I had been weighing myself almost daily. Thank you all for your input, it's greatly appreciated!

Here's an article to demonstrate why you're experiencing this.

if you inches (buying smaller clothes, clothes getting to big), then you are losing/true actual weight

regardless of what the scale says or does not say..focus on eating great foods, exercising and be happy

that you are gaining weight.........think about what your doing GREAT instead of the bs what are you doing wrong.

seems you are right on target

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
