Band to Sleeve with low BMI

Recommended Posts

I wonder if anyone here converted from the band to the sleeve, after being mostly successful with their weight loss? I consider myself lucky in the sense that I lost 90 pounds with my band. But, I started to have issues with my band in April, Aug, Oct & finally Dec where it was determined to have partially slipped and became quite painful.

I decided to convert to the sleeve for fear of gaining the weight back. I started this journey at 245 pounds & averaged around 220 pounds. I weighed 155 when I had the sleeve done 15 days ago. I now weigh 141 pounds.

Has anyone else had revision to the sleeve with a low BMI? If so, what can I expect from here on out? I don't mind losing a little more weight, but don't want to lose too much more (now that sounds ridiculous) because my face looks too thin for my body. I can't believe I even said that ...

I haven't had surgery, but I have similiar thoughts. I'm getting the sleeve March 5 and I have a max of probably 75 lbs and I would be TINY. I'm worried I'm going to be disappointed and only lose 30lbs or something. I know it sounds ridiculous. My surgeon agreed to do the surgery and basically said: I can either do it now or in 10 years. It's your choice (people in my family tend to expand as they age. A lot.) Congrats on your success though!

I was 169 on day of surgery, I dropped down quickly to 158 and stayed there for awhile but now I'm finding the sleeve is a struggle for me to maintain, Iv actually gained 5 lbs even though I'm working out 5x a week, watching my Protein and drinking a ton of Water !! I was worried at first about losing too much and now I think what a joke, hopefully you will have better luck than me, so far the sleeve has not been anything I had hoped for. I'm 13 lbs from my goal and struggling everyday at this point. Best of luck to you in your journey.

I was 145 the day of surgery. My surgeon warned me if I dropped to 125 he would intervene, I'm guessing feeding tube. I got to 126. Was furiously drinking calories. He told me I would drop and bounce back up. I am at 135. I converted to maintain my weight forever. Great decision, would do it again.

Was revised 6 mths ago at 174. I've only lost down to 153. I'm not really trying to lose and the sleeve is allowing me to maintain fairly easily. I know if I kicked it up a notch and actually started trying to lose, I could get to my 135 goal (18 lbs). The last 20 r the hardest! The first 100 were easy peasy compared to the last 20.

So yes, my bmi was 28 at my revision. The nurses who didn't know I had a revision thought I was crazy for taking out 85% of my stomach while weighing 174.

Ur right. I would never have been able to keep the weight off without a new tool. I know myself too well.. Gained 30 lbs over the year my band was unfilled due to a slip.

Good luck to u

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
