My surgery is scheduled for Feb. 19th. I start my liquid diet on February 4. I'm starting to get worried and panic a bit. I've never done a liquid diet before and worry it's good to be so hard. I am completely committed to the surgery but it's starting to get very real now and I'm getting scared!

I am on day two of the diet. I am definitely sluggish and ornery to say the least but it is doable. My surgeon lets us eat a 1/2 cup of a non-starchy vegetable a day. Yesterday I had more than a half a cup probably more like a full cup. I think today I may be able to stick to the half. Each day it will be easier. I think the main intention (I get the liver reduction part) is to prepare us for what is to come post-op. I definitely miss chewing on something!!! You can do this. Think how good you are going to feel after you lose the excess weight. I have a toddler to chase and he is my motivation. Think of what motivates you most and run with that... let that fuel your fire!! Good luck. You will do fine. Positive thinking.

The anxiety is normal. This is major, life-changing surgery...if you weren't nervous, then you should panic!! ;)

This part of the process was undoubtedly the most difficult for me. However, it is all a distant memory now!

You are in for an awesome transformation! Just follow your doc's orders to the letter, allow your body time to heal, don't (DO NOT!) let the number on the scale dictate your feeling of success or failure (If you feel better and your pants are baggy, to hell with what the number is! LOL), move around (walk...exercise when you're ready) and I promise, the weight will melt off!

Good luck! :)

I'm not going to lie, the first 4 days of my 2 week preop diet were hard. I was detoxing from carbs and had really bad brain fog and headaches. After the 4th day they went away and I wasn't hungry anymore. I actually have to stay on the diet for a while longer as my surgery date was delayed. But so far I'm doing OK. You will be too. :)

I didn't do well with any pre-op diet regimen, still had my surgery on time and I'm doing fine.

Do the best you can; but unless you've got some major health ailments, and an already huge liver, don't overly stress about it. Just sayin'. If you drop some weight preo-op, good. If you can do so well pre-op with a diet, you wouldn't need the surgery! None of us would have. :-) [They want you to lose some weight before surgery to decrease the size of the liver to avoid possible injury if its so big that it's near the surgical field.]

My day is February 19, too! But I don't have to start my diet until the 5th.

I'm worried about the liquid diet a little too... But I'm actually just so excited to START this journey, that I'm exited to do the liquid thing. Hopefully I'll feel the same when I starting next week! Haha

I am on day 7 of 14 of the pre-op liquid diet. The first few days were awful. Now I am ok with it, I just keep telling myself that I am in this for the long haul. I know that I will be able to eat foods that I love in moderation. Just keep going. You will be fine. I keep a large mug of my favorite surgar free drink with me at all times. When I feel hungry I take a big drink.

Good Luck:)

Ok day one down and I got through it! It wasn't as bad as I thought. The shakes do not taste good at all (I went out yesterday and bought 3 different kinds) but I found chugging it in 2 big gulps got it down.

I am a diet pepsi FREAK and was worried about withdrawing from it. It wasn't that bad!

I CAN do this!

Thanks for all the encourgament - and keep it coming! :)

I'm almost done with my first day with this liquid diet. So far, I'm not even hungry, thank goodness.

I bought some powder packets(bariatric fusion) from my doc, and I liked the cappacino and orange cream. That's all I've tried. They also carry stuff called ProtiDiet, and they have liquid (basically liquid crystal light) and the fruit lunch was good, and they're 15 Protein per 5oz!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
