Hi All,

Hope everyone is well and getting skinnyer by the minute.:) I phoned the Hospital Group today to find out who to address the letter to regarding having my medical file/records returned to me, and the very snotty Kim said that they were in the hands of the liquidators and that I would have to contact them. She said the liquidators were BDO and that she didn't have a number for them she also said that a Lorraine Mc Clean was the person who was dealing with ACS. So whoever was told that their files would be returned to them in two weeks well, one of us was lied to.:) Anyway, I got their number from Golden Pages and their address and have phoned and left a message on Lorraine Mc Clean's answer machine so will fill you all in when and if I get a reply. Here's the contact details for the liquidators if any of you want to phone yourselves.

Lorraine Mc Clean,

Hi Coco and all. It was me who was told 2 weeks to get the file and notes etc. Needless to say that was about 4 weeks ago. I phoned again last week to find out a few things. 1. What happens now that I have travelled to Belfast and had a fill, am I now cut loose from The Hospital Group? Leanne said she would find out for me??? and 2. Where are my notes that I requested, Leanne told me that the notes etc from Owenstown were put in Storage when Owenstown closed and that it would take tiime but that Ashling was looking after it... Glad I didn't start holding my breath!

On a brighter note am now 66lbs down so approaching the 5 stone mark. The last fill seems to have made a difference, just have to get my head to be on the same page as my body and make the right food choices.

Hope ye are all well its a little quiet around here lately.

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well. I haven’t been able to post in a little while. I was due for a fill two weeks ago but unfortunately they were cancelled due to flight cancellations. He will be back next week so all is not lost. :scared2:

Roe: Sorry I didn’t get to meet you. Hope the next fill goes ahead with no problem for you.

Edel: Hope your feeling ok after your surgery today. Pop in and let us know how you got on.

Gerri: Did you ever hear back from Obesity Solutions about taking over your aftercare?

Ailbhe: Nice to hear you met someone new. Hows that going? How is the little one, the poor little thing? Has she cheered up at all?

Magna/Terry: I might see you next Thurs at the fills. I haven’t made an appointment yet as I wasn’t sure about time off work. Terry, I know you text me what time your appointment was but I deleted the text and cant remember. What time is your appointment.

Coco/Gerri: Good luck getting your medical records back. I don’t envy you though. :cursing:

Flirtylass: Welcome. I replied to your other thread about the Beacon.

Have a great bank holiday weekend everyone. Hope the sun comes out.

Elsie

Hey all. Hope you're all looking forward to your fills this week. I'm still unsure about whether to get another or not.

Aside from the weight I lost when the split happened I've lost another 3 pounds this month. It seems slow but it is still going down. I'm officially a size 18 now. i can shop in the "normal" shops and departments. I treated myself to a new "going out" wardrobe and everyone has been complimenting me so I feel pretty good. Was at the doc for a check up (blood tests etc) and she was against the band initially. When I told her what had happened with ex she said she was glad I had the band as it would make the split easier to deal with as I am getting my confidence back. If it had happened and I was the size I had been I'd be much worse.

She's right.

Myself and ex are getting on ok for daughters sake. We have our moments (especially when he mentions new girlfriend) so he has said he won't do that anymore. I said I'd try to cut back on the catty comments and he pointed out that I only do that when he brings her up. So he's gone from blaming me for everything (hich he did when we split until recently) to realising that he is playing a part in this sorry mess too. It's a step forward I guess.

I'm 2 pound off the next stone bracket so I'm being very good as i can't wait to hit it!

New guy turned out to be a bit of a wimp (not calling when he said he would, cancelling on me etc) so after the second time he did that I told him I wasn't interested. I've been strung along by ex for the last year. I'm not wasting anymore of my time on guys who don't know what they want :cool2:.

I have to say it was a bit more horriffic than i thought, i had the idea that i would be back to normal by sunday, and did not expect the pain from the gas either. But im not bad now a little pain in port site but back to work and all. Im on the liquid diet at the min and i would love to blow up a slim fast factory, im sick of them. i am hungry but im trying to have as little as possible cause im so bored with everything, Soup yogurt slimfast and custard. cant wait till the mush next wk.

Thanks all  I'm chuffed with how I look. People I haven't seen for a while are doing double takes. I was meeting my mum in a shopping centre and from a distance she wasn't sure if it was me. She has seen me loads since the op but she was looking for the "big" girl.

I remember after having my daughter I was a size 16. When I was at my biggest I was looking at photos thinking how skinny I was. I'm tall and broad so will never be a 12 but when I had the op the goal I had in mind was a 16. And I'm only 1 size away!!!!

Well, ok, one and a half as I can't wear tight things in an 18 but we'll pretend

It seemed so unachievable at the time. And I'm 2 weeks shy of my 6 month bandiversary and nearly at my personal goal!

Good luck to all going for fills tomorrow

I was thinking yesterday I should have gone for one and then I had lunch and my band was really tight so probably just as well I didn't :cool2:

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
