Do I need another fill?

Recommended Posts

Hey my fellow Banded friends!! I'm new to the forum and also pretty new to the whole "Lapband life"!! I recently had my surgery Nov. 8, 2013. With my Dr, I didn't get my first fill until 6 weeks post-op. Well my first fill went great!!! But the only thing is I'm still hungry between meals and I also feel that my portions are too big. I purposely watch my portions, but sometimes I can eat more (at least more that what I feel I should be eating)!! I guess what I'm trying to ask is, is it common to have more that your first fill before you are truly where you should be? I don't feel that I'm "in the green" yet, could this be true, and that I really do need another fill? I have 4cc In my band now, but I'm not quite sure how many cc my band holds. What do you think??

It took me 3 fills to get to the green zone. I was banded with 3cc's and went between fill appointments to get an additional .5cc's to top off my first fill. I am now at 5.5cc's and have been in the green since August 19, 2013.

if you're not getting full...go in for a top-off, you can stall your weightloss by getting fills too slowly.

I just walked in from my fourth fill..... Banded 8/22/13. No real appetite, no cravings, five or so hours in between meals......BUT, definitely eating more than a half to one cup of food when I do eat. Because of the meal portion size, the Doc and I both feel I'm not "green" yet. He told me that since I'm super close to getting there, from now on, fills will only be 1/2 cc from now on out. If you are still eating a larger portion than your doc suggests, then maybe you will be getting another fill too. Portion size and hours in between meals are the questions I'm asked when deciding on another fill.

Hi there, I was banded November 5 and I've had four fills. No fill in band at time of surgery and I don't know how many cc's are in my band. It's kind of irrelevant since what matters is how the individual is doing with portion sizes and time between meals. Since the last fill I'm feeling restriction for the first time and not like I'm dieting. More like I'm not really hungry and I'm satisfied on a small amount of food. Yippee! I don't last the 4-5 hours, though. Am scheduled for next week so I'll see then whether I will get one more small one and then let that settle in. I think I am very, very close. Good luck to you! These are exciting times........down two jean sizes and feeling all the hope and possibility.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
