Laparoscopic sleeve after previous csections

Recommended Posts

I've read previous abdominal surgery may make you unable to have laparoscopic surgery. Has anyone had previous csections and then laparoscopic gastric sleeve?

I have had 3 C sections. All three were done along the same incision line in the lower pelvic area (bikini area), lap surgery for the sleeve is done in your upper abd area, generally above and/or to the sides of the belly button. When I met w/ my surgeon (I'm still pre op) he said my surgery would not involve the area of my C section at all. Assuming your C section was done in your lower pelvic area as well, you should be fine as well. No sweat....that was a concern of mine as well. Good Luck!!

I also had 3 c-sections before VSG. No issues whatsoever. :-)

I had 2 c-sections a partial hysterectomy and then my cervix taken out all pre-sleeve and my dr didn't have any problem performing the sleeve surgery from what he said.

I also had three c-sections and a transabdominal cerclage placed, and I had no trouble having my sleeve. Two of my three c-sections were complicated, and in one of them, my incision reopened a few days after surgery because of a hematoma. I had a wound vac and several weeks of wound care, and I was left with a lot of scar tissue and a gnarly incision line. Additionally, I was involved in a car accident two weeks before surgery. My van was totaled, and I had a giant line of bruising all across my belly under my belly button. The surgeon had to see it in advance, but he said even that wouldn't negatively affect my surgery because he was operating all above it. I still had to give myself Lovenox injections around that bruise line post-op, but there were no complications even with that. Here's a picture of the bruise line and a picture of my incisions one week post-op for reference. (Not sure if/why they're attaching twice and/or upside down, and not sure how to fix. Hopefully you'll get the idea.)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
