You're telling me! I don't know why I thought about that incident. I had pushed it back for years! I was so humiliated and embarrassed and horrified that I never spoke of it again. I felt pretty hard toward my roommate too. We parted ways soon after that. I could hardly look at her. Now I find myself telling about it in this public forum. CRAZY! But thanks for allowing it. It felt good somehow to actually face it.

On a much brighter side to the story, my hero, the attorney who ran for public office, lost the race but I did go to work for him! He wound up doing phenominally well and wound up arguing a case before the Supreme Court. I have no idea what happened to either of the other two guys. I do know that Paul never really dated Rebecca after that. Although let's face it, they were made for each other.

I am glad that talking about that horrible incident relieved some pent up stress and maybe some anger too.

Holding things like that in is not healthy.

I am proud of you. :boy_hug::)

Gosh, thanks TOM. I can't believe I actually told it. My DH doesn't even know about it. Not something to bring up in everyday conversation, you know?

Anyway, thanks a bunch for being supportive about me blurting it out. Right back at you! :)

I have so many embarrasssing moments that I don't know which to choose as my most embarrassing. I suppose it was the time that I was teaching in a very small classroom. I was standing about 1 foot from the front row of students when I farted. It was quite loud and unexpected. I was so embarrassed that I blushed to hard I sweated. I didn't know what to do, so I interrupted myself and said, "Well, that's enough of that," and went on to some group work. Now if I fart in class, I just glare at a student and pretend it was him or her.

Also, I was studying for comprehensive exams at T.U. Their comprehensive exams were really comprehensive starting with the Epic of Gilgamesh and ending yesterday. I was exhausted and went to my classroom for my comp. class. It wasn't there. This was the week after spring break and I immediately assumed they had turned my classroom into a language lab over the break. I sent most of the students home and went to complain about this. The secretary asked me very gently if I was sure I was in the right room. It occurred to me that I was on the 2nd floor of the building while my classroom was on the third floor. I was mighty embarrassed about that.

BOH: When I do things like that I start thinking that I really am my chronological age. Most of the time I'm in denial. :help:

I don't embarrass easily...but...

I was up for a promotion at my job at the time....I was wearing a very nice skirt and blouse...went to the rest room to prepare for my interview...came out of the rest room...walked confidently past the manager and VP (a MAN) that would be interviewing me and to my desk to pick up a pad of paper and pen...as I passed my co-workers desk she says very quietly, yet urgently "JOYCE! Stop!!" She comes to my desk and PULLS MY SKIRT FROM MY PANTY HOSE!!!!!!!!!

Needless to say, I was mortified and did not want to go to my meeting...because I KNOW they saw my granny panties and probably had a good ole laugh!! Maybe the good laugh put them in a good mood though, cuz I got the promotion! :)

Musical, those wardrobe malfunctions can be pretty embarrassing, but it could always be worse.

The same thing happened to a girl I didn't like much anyway, on an airplane bound for Vegas! She came struttin' back down the aisle - all the way from the back of the plane - with her bare bum showing thru 'cause she didn't have on panties.

Gotta tell you about my older sister, who is a bossy boots.

We went to Dollywood together once. I was dying for a Funnel Cake. But of course I'd been on a diet and didn't want anybody knowing I'd eaten something so decadent. My sister whips out her camera and proceeds to take a picture of me while I was in line for the cake. I yelled at her to puleeze, puleeze!!! I beg you...do NOT take my picture with me in line to buy a Funnel Cake. She laughed real big and took it anyway. And of course, she ate some of my Funnel Cake. Not 15 minutes later, she went to the rest room and asked me to hold her stuff. I sat on one of the benches waiting for her and she came around the building with about 3 feet of toilet paper trailing out of her jeans in back. When she looked away, with her camera, I quickly took a picture of her backside, unbeknownst to her. Then I walked up behind her, told her to remove the offending paper from her jeans and hid her from any possible onlookers.

A couple of days after we'd returned from the trip I get this furious phone call from my sister, screaming at me and wanting to know why I would have taken a picture of her like that, She spent 3 minutes chewing me out royally for taking a picture of her from behind with toilet paper trailing out of her jeans. She kept asking me why I would do such a thing and when she stopped to take a breath, I asked her if she was finished yelling I would tell her exactly why. She kept quiet for a second and I asked her if there was a photograph in that stack she just had developed, of me in line to buy a Funnel Cake. She stayed real quiet. I reminded her that I had begged her not to take that picture and I reminded her that she'd taken it anyway and that she thought it was real funny. She said, uh oops sorry, and hung up. Paybacks are hell.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
