Name some of the most difficult things you experienced after vsg surgery

Thanks for the kind words. I'm still very frustrated but at least I have some ideas of what to ask the dr to check for once I have insurance. I have started working out ( in addition to my standard dog-walking). I will take the advice of starting a thread to get ideas on people with hormonal reasons blocking weight loss.

NothingUpMySleeve it is total not un common to start in a stall......how much did you lose before the surgery?

and its ok to be frustrated because i know i would be 2.....but dont give up it will be worth it in the long run once you hit ur goal weight....and remember any pounds lost is better than pounds gained so smile :)

Isleeve, I didn't lose any weight pre-op. I am up one more pound, making my grand total for one month 4 whole pounds lost. I regret this surgery with all my heart.

That may be apart of it too. Hopefully you're just off to a slow start. Usually they make you lose weight preop an the more you lose preop the more success you have postop. I've never heard of anyone not having to lose preop.

The Bad:

1. Three weeks out still have some soreness around the major incision so I feel better sleeping in a chair. I really miss sleeping with my wife.

2. I am cold most of the time.

3. Because I am never really hungry, it is hard to tell when I am full.

4. I have never had that "too full" feeling and can eat 2 oz of meat without a problem, so it makes me wonder if the sleeve is going to be the long term answer. I really thought I would struggle to get my Protein etc but I haven't, and I am not sure that is a good thing.

The good:

1. I am losing weight. Not as fast as some say they are, but faster than other. I am OK with being in the middle.

2. Back to the gym, I like to work out and maybe that will speed the weight loss.

3. I love smaller clothes.

4. The best is that all the second guessing about how fast I lose, and is it working, the logical part of me says I know I will lose the weight, whereas with diet alone the possibility was always there that I would fail.

5. I am much better prepared this time to keep the weight off. I try to learn from past mistakes, and because I have had many, I am smarter for it. LOL

I had the surgery back in November 2013 and I have had some good and bad so far.

Bad:

My craving for sweets are still there

I have no ambition to plan to exercise

I can't eat scrambled eggs anymore they make me sick to my stomach

Recently cannot get in all the calories the doctors want me to get I float in between 300-500 instead of 800-1,000

I have more gas than normal

Good:

I can fit into clothes that I used to wear in high school

I have found new energy

Sex drive has went up a lot

I love tomatoes now

My feet are shrinking (goodbye giant feet!)

Grocery's last more than a month!

Kaylee.. you might check your Protein. It is possible you have become Lactose Intolerant. I have to use whey Isolate with Lactaid Skim Milk. It keeps the gas down to a minimum. Good luck!

is anyone having the problem of being hungry all the time?

I'm actually having the opposite problem. I haven't had hunger since I got sleeved. I know I need to eat, but I'm not experiencing actual hunger like before I was sleeved if that makes sense.

really? None at all? Hunger was back for me during month 5 and elevated as I got more active over next few months. I would say my hunger is only controlled because I eat Protein and veggies every 3 hours. I definitely have hunger. If i do not keep eating, I get light headed and "weak"

Really. I'm still only 3 months out, so maybe it will come back, but I hope not. I know I need to eat because of the weakness and lightheadedness, but that's me knowing I need to eat. I don't have the stomach growling and hunger pains that people normally have. No true hunger. I'm glad for it!

Over twenty months out now and I still only rarely feel hunger. I have learnt the signs for when I am hungry ( light headed, weak, dizzy etc) and try not to get to that point but it can be hard when busy. I forgot my afternoon snack today and then after some intense cardio actually saw stars. Not good. I need to be as mindful about eating regularly as I do about what I eat. I don't always get it right :-/

I feel hunger around my cycle, for a couple of days, that started about three or so months ago. I also interestingly enough sometimes feel hungry when I have overdone the crappy carbs. Like the sugars want more sugars. But really, I know that I am not satiated because I ate crap and that I need to feed that hunger with real food.

The pain and nausea and dry heaving during the first two days after surgery. Also, the burning acid reflux im experiencing at the moment... and the stall at week 3! I dont even think about food in terms of it being an enjoyable experience anymore, either.. I eat to survive now. I see this as a positive though, not a negative. Im feeling better and fitter already :D .xx

Here's a couple: 1. Not drinking while I'm eating (big one) 2. Listening to others tell me I wasn't "big enough" for WLS 3. Getting funny looks at places like Olive Garden when my hubby orders the "Tour of Italy" and I get a skewer of shrimp or something equally miniscule lol 4. Trying to keep my pants up (yet stubbornly refusing to buy new ones until I absolutely HAVE to -- Goodwill is my favorite shopping mecca now) 5. BIGGEST ONE: STALLS (have already been through two -- one at week 3 and one that I came out of Saturday that lasted 5 WEEKS!) 6. Feeling like I should have lost MORE by now...though I do know my rate of loss of still very good, the stalls contribute to this feeling 7. Constipation  (though I have found some "cures" for that)

I agree with each and everyone of these. I do want to add one, though. I have a problem some days not eating enough. It contributes to be not loosing and is quite frustrating.

Hi I am like 4 months out and I have been in and out of the hospital since my sleeve. The constipation is the worst. I feel like i can't enjoy or eat anything?! Do you have any suggestions. And can you please share your cures for the constipation?? Maybe i am overeating or eating too fast?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
