I truly love reading everyone's stories and experiences..... So unique, yet so many common threads. For the first time in my adult life, I am a liberated woman. I freed myself from my love/hate relationship with my scale. For decades, I have allowed that scale to determine my self worth and set my mood on a daily basis. When I began this life changing transformation of having WLS, I made a decision to not weigh myself daily or even weekly ...... Very hard to do for this certified SCALE JUNKIE! (Believe me, I'm not even suggesting this for anyone.... Just sharing my personal experience). I only weigh at my doctor's visits, about every four to six weeks. No longer do I get angry with daily fluctuations. I see a trend of weight loss in bigger chunks over longer periods of time. Of course all of this was made easier by the fact that my scale has been HIDDEN and can't seem to be found anywhere in my garage or attic, but that was the best thing for ME..... Just wanted to share!!!!!!

I am taking this to heart. And possibly taking my scale out to the barn. The other day I woke up very early -- 5:30 or so and weighed myself. Weight up. Went back to bed for a couple of hours and then weighed again. 2.5 pounds down. What? Who weighs themselves multiple times to try to get a better number? A scale Junkie! I really want to stay focused on how my blue jeans are fitting. I'm down a size and these are no longer tight. I think the weighing in at the doctor's office is probably a great plan for me. Currently I plug the weight into MFP every morning and it's that frustrating up two down 1 up three stay the same, etc. I don't want to drive myself crazy -- that's why I got the band, so I can relax, eat the right foods in small amounts and let the weight come off. It's that simple -- why do I have to over-complicate it? Thanks for the post!

Actually I do. Even though I'm below my goal I think I probably weigh myself 5 times a day. Yes it's crazy but I do. LOL I can't wait to go back to work tomorrow so that will be one less thing on my brain.

I weigh myself every morning. It keeps me on track. I don't see it as anything odd or abnormal---the scale reflects me efforts over time and I like seeing the number go down. If the number is up (or stays the same for a significant amount of time), I know what I need to do. It's just another way I stay accountable to myself, along with my clothing and my photographs.

There is nothing wrong with weighing yourself daily as long as you can deal with the fluctuations. As long as you are sticking to your program and not cheating it shouldn't bother you if the number is up a pound or two. We all want to see it go down but you also need to know that it wont always go down.

I weigh myself every morning after getting out of bed...and usually at the gym so twice a day.....

The fluctuations are to be expected...I have been up and down, always within the same 5 lbs, for over 2 years now....

I can up 3 today, down 1 tomorrow, then another 3 the next day, then jump 4 after that...etc, etc, etc....

All perfectly normal.....I'm not even sure why I do it because it is always the same...pure habit I guess....

Bottom line is that I have not actually gained, or lost any more weight in 2 years...things have leveled off where my body wants to be....

I pay more attention to a Body Fat Analysis....

I weigh myself everyday in the morning after I've been up a little while.. it keeps me focused on the day ahead and what I need to do... I'm not overly obsessed with it just think it keeps me on track.. I knew I had gained 2 lbs over the holidays because I weighed myself every day.. I cut back to my 1 cup at each meal and a lite snack .. no more sugar Cookies, chocolate covered peanutbutter balls, etc. soon it came off and I lost a bonus 1 lb. so here I am back to where I was before the holidays.. feel better and motivated to continue my journey.. But, not everyone can do the same.. If it really upsets you to weigh every day and you are obsessed with it, stop doing it... weigh once a week or once a month... my scale and my dr's scale are never the same so I expect to weigh more there... no big deal...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
