I need some advice.

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm Lauren. I had surgery on December 20th. I have lost 14 lbs my weight currently is 245. I'm just not sure if I'm doing the right things. I have read several blogs and I havnt lost that much weight compared to others. I'm unable to get Protein Shakes in some some unknown reason I'm lactose intolerant now. My energy level seems okay but still very tired. I would love some tips from anyone. Thank you so much!

I use Syntrax....fruit flavored Protein powder....Try that they have a lot of different flavors....

If you are not taking in Protein much your body will slow down from losing to protect itself.....

If you have read a bunch of blogs you must know that it is very inconsistent.... and that pretty much everyone stalls around 2-3 weeks post op. Also, if you lost weight pre-op, well, you won't have the shocking fast weight loss the first month. so, my advice is to just keep doing the right thing, rocking that sleeve and the weight will come off!

Everyone loses at their own pace. It all has to do with how much weight has to be lost, genetics, gender and age, etc. Don't be hard on yourself. Just follow what your NUT says and you will be just fine!!! Good luck!

I didn't weigh myself until the post-op appointment (about a week later.) But for being, what, 10 days out? I think 14 pounds is fine, especially if you're talking since the day of surgery.

It really is all over the map, you know?

We had surgery the same day and as of Friday, I was UP 5 pounds from surgery day. I'm assuming it's leftover Water gain from surgery. I'm not weighing myself again until Jan 1 so I'll have a 2014 starting weight. But I guarantee I won't be 19 pounds, so you are way ahead of me. I've been getting in all my fluids and Protein since day 5 and I feel good, so I am not complaining.

Since you are having trouble with Protein shakes, have you tried adding unflavored Protein Powder to Soups? I usually have a Protein shake with added drinkable yogurt (recommended by nut to replace normal GI flora) for Breakfast, Soup with Protein Powder for late lunch, and a second shake (usually vanilla Matrix with PB2 added) for dinner/desert. I also drink an additional 20 - 30oz flavored Water throughout the day. I've really enjoyed my Soup selection... Tortilla soup base, cream of shrimp, butternut squash bisque, strained French onion, and today had cream of asparagus. I dilute and strain the creamed Soups to make them pretty thin. Mixing powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury protein'd cheese sauce with the tortilla soup was especially yummy.

Good luck!

I was sleeved dec 19th, I've lost 9 lbs since surgery. But I lost 24 lbs required weight loss and 16 lbs 2 week liquid pre-op. So in all I've lost 49 lbs since sept. I have to remind myself that when I see the low numbers since surgery and others like yourself have lost more. Most important thing I've read over and over, is not to compare yourself with others.

whey Protein isolate is lactose free where as whey protein concentrate is not. Start using soy milk or almond milk instead of milk. It is normal to gave some diarrhea/ loose stools after surgery. When you get to solids it will improve....BUT stop looking things up in blogs. There is. A LOT of bad info out there - call your MD. And talk to your nutritionist. You could also have an intentional infection that needs antibiotics.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
