Hi guys. So I am spending another day at the hospital since I only had 3 ounces of Fluid in the last 10 hours. I am just not hungry. Seems like I like hot better then cold. I love the broth so much. No pain in my tummy maybe my shoulder hurts a little but not bad at all. I walked a lot today and I felt just fine. Don't be scared. Just know that day one won't be easy. At least line wasn't

Hey Hun. I'm doing okay. No pain but I am feeling emotionally sad. I miss food. Being just on liquids is hard ... I miss food :( I had pain on the second day but after that I was fine

Glad no pain for you Dona. Every day is better. food will come soon enough. Almost 7 weeks out and finally I do not have to read a list to see what I can have. My daughter is in New Orleans right now and I am thinking of what she is eating LOL. I think we will be missing some foods the rest of our lives, but look where that got us, loving those foods. Fat, sluggish, feeling awful, could barely walk, miserable, depressed. That was me.

You are right. I was so busy getting everything done for the insurance I didn't prepare my self at all. I was at the hospital for 3 days because I couldn't drink more than 2 ounces but as soon as I came home I wanted everything lol.. Even Milk which I never ever drink lol .

I know it will get easier and this was my choice. I think my surgeon forgot to sleeve me because I can drink with no problem at all... No gas pain at all. Drinking liquids is time consuming. I want this to be over so I can eat some pudding and yogurt. It will make feel like human. Every time I feel ow and sad I come here and see pictures of others and receipts and how they can eat again. Makes me have hope. I haven't taken any medication since I got home :) .. Planning to go back to work on Monday since it will be easier not having a kitchen around haha...

But honestly, is it normal that I can chug my juice(diluted) with no problem? I still for like plain Water :( which is sad because I love Water.

I like that, nothing tastes as good as skinny, not that I would know in my lifetime yet lol! Dona, I felt like my doctor made my sleeve too large lol or forgot to sleeve me also so I know that feeling. But a few bites of chicken breast eaten too quickly or not chewed sufficiently let me know he definitely sleeved me lol! I can drink without restriction, and drink Water all day. Avoiding juices, even diluted. Have you tried Crystal Light? They make so many wonderful flavors, Mango, etc.

I got the puddings too but found after a small pack, it did not interest me. Even my diabetic husband, who had his sugar free pudding religiously, keeps avoiding what I made him LOL. That is great because his blood sugar readings are 110, not 300-400. Halleujah! What I enjoy most is something like cottage cheese, even for dinner.

I think going to work can help you get your mind off food. I just retired, and I am stuck in a chair with my foot propped up with gout in my toe, and can barely walk. So this laptop is entertaining me, at least it keeps my mind occupied. I cannot wait to start walking again. It has been a week now.

But I am HAPPY! All that matters. Have a wonderful day everyone.

I tried the crystal light but I am not liking it :( maybe I should force myself. I am such a picky eater that it's ridiculous how I gained weight. Oh it was the soda and junk food lol.

I am scared I have a leak since I can drink so comfortably without any restrictions. I have no pain at all. I feel fine

This makes me so happy. I was soooo scared you have no idea :( . Like I said I felt like I didn't have the sleeve. I feel fine and no gas problems either. Can't wait to see the doc on Thursday so he can say in fine because I am ready to pull my hair out of my head :( ...

One of the scars by the belly button is bruised. Is that ok to happen?

Yes, bruising is normal, mine were brown and then yellowish as the healed, and now barely visible.

Smile now!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
