One week post op- got a suprise

Recommended Posts

Hello

I am one week one post op today. Been feeling really well these past couple of days. No real pain. Sitting up all day and walking around. No naps. Able to hold liquids etc.

However I woke up this morning to my menstrual cycle after not having one for six months. My GYN said it stopped probably due to my weight. Is it possible that this surgery could have already triggered a my monthly cycle? I don't know how much I has lost as I don't have a scale yet. I go for my follow up appt tomorrow and will find out. My husband keeps telling me it looks like I has lost 15-20 pounds.

Anyone else experience this?

Yes Ma'am, I did the exact same thing. Not only did I get one after NOT having one for four months, but, it was the worse one I had in years. It was awful. The cramps were unbelievable. I called my nurse and she said yes, anesthesia can do that.

me too! it wasnt horrible, but it was really weird not like i have been having for years. then the next 3 cycles it was clear i was probably, at 47, having fertile cycles again. way less estrogen and more progesterone in my body due to less body fat.

yeah, everything is going to change. everything.

Yep I got mine a week after surgery as well after not having one in a year, and now today woke up to second cycle 28 days later, this morning. I didn't mark the calendar so the cramps two days before I thought was Constipation guess it was my cycle. Have to say the cramps are horrible.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I am so used to not having a period it is pretty strange to have one now. But I guess that's just part of it!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
