So what some other people first week out waits? I'm 5' 5" and started at 210, eight days out and I've lost just 6#.

I'd like to hear from you.

Quite honestly, I didn't step on the scale for the first two weeks.. I was concentrating on healing and also looking down at my stomach? It was huge! I mean more than normal :P

I called it frankenbelly I was swollen from surgery so I didn't bother.

Focus on healing and getting your fluids in, the weight will follow.

Tired old saying time!!!!

"It's not a race it's a journey"

"We didn't get fat in a day it's going to take more than one to lose it too"

Congrats on being sleeved and your loss so far. That is great.

But I would just want to put a word of caution out there to everyone that comparing one person's results to another can, in the long run, do absolutely no good. There are sooooo many components to weight loss and it is even more so magnified in the first few weeks post surgery.

  • Can you compare how much Fluid was pumped into your IV during your surgery?
  • Did you do a pre-op diet, and if so, for how long? Was it liquids only or lean/green or what?
  • Gender differences
  • Were you already rapidly losing weight pre-op dieting on your own? (body already going into starvation mode)
  • Do you have thyroid or other endocrine issues?

I think we all know BMI comparisons are worthless as is the whole BMI thing, anyway, so ...

My vote is just be happy to have received the surgery and stick to the guidelines your medical team laid out for you. Do this and you will be fine. Don't compare yourself to others.

This is your journey.

Had the same experience as Laura. Totally was swollen and not up for much.

I remember within two weeks I went from 290 something to 270. I remember being floored. Haha. I went down a whole size.

4 months later I'm now 100 pounds down and determined for it to continue.

I gained weight...haha... all pumped up with fluids.

But you know what... doesn't matter. I am now down 160#, this works.

I was losing about a pound a day for the 1st week and about 20 pounds per month - the first 3 months. I'm sure I could have lost more if I had worked at it harder, but I was happy that the weight was falling off as fast as it was.

Four weeks out and I've still only lost the 8 pounds I lost the first day, none since then.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
