Im scheduled to have my surgery in 2 more days!! After years of planning and saving...I'm seriously about to freak out! I went on a 6 day fast and lost all my required weight only 14 lbs and they approved me to eat low fat low carb meal 1x a day and 2 shakes! Been doing ok but I keep hearing all these people talking bout a 2 week or even a one week liquid? Why wasn't i on that? And liver shrinkage? Great what if that is too big?

Whoa! Whoa! Slow down!!! You're getting yourself all worked up over pretty much nothing...I know it's alot to you but let's look at it piece by piece. First, everyone is different and all surgeons are different. Mine for example has had me lose 14 lbs also but I only need to take Milk of Magnesia once and that's two nights before surgery. Next, I only have to be on a liquid diet the day before surgery and then nothing after after midnight. As for your liver, if you lost the 14 lbs required, all of that was fat off of your liver and they will be perfectly happy with what they see. You are so close to your dream so just sit back, think about all the good things to come and how happy you are going to be with your new life. Granted, it won't be a picnic in the beginning but, once you are feeling good you'll look back and say, "what was I thinking!" Good luck with your surgery and your new life to come!!! Merry Christmas!!!

I suggest you stick to your doctor's requirements and not worry about what other doctors say. Your liver will be fine. Fourteen pounds is a lot.

I've been here for a long time and have found that there are many differences in what different doctors require in terms of pre and post diets, exercise, etc. It seems as though it is best to stay on the straight and narrow path of what your doctor says.

My surgeon and nutritionist told me it's the lack of sugar that shrinks the liver.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
