I Have A Leak And I'm Scared.

You are a trooper and I pray everything had healed so that you can resume a normal eating life.

I was sleeved on 1/7 had to stay in the hospital 1 extra day because of the nauseousness. I was sent down to be checked for leaks and everything was good. But over all I've been feeling pretty good beside the pain I've been having in my left shoulder/neck. I went to the dr today was check, and Dr said its not surgery related Thank God, so they prescribed me a muscle relaxer.

good for you. i think you will be very happy with your surgery. i am very happy to have had my surgery, even with the leak. i'm grateful to be alive and not have gotten really sick, and i can't wait to have this heal. i'm thinking positively.

now if only i could have a bm. i'm pretty impacted right now and have tried many many things lol. last thing i got here is an enema to try... just staring it down at this time... not ready for it yet.

AnaBanana,

Your journey sounds nearly identical to mine. After I was sleeved on 12/10, my leak was discovered on 12/22. Contained Leak fOund on CT scan. I have been back to the hospital a couple times since. Once for 12 days and once for 7 days. I am now at home on an NJ tube and IV antibiotics via PICC line. I have my Upper GI and CT scan on the 6th, the day after yours.

I am praying that your leak has finally healed and you can resume a "normal" life. Dealing with a leak is really discouraging because of the lengthy treatment course. I hope that my leak tests on the 6th go well too. I am so tired of living this way. I just want to be free of all the tubes and be able to drink a sweet tea :) Over the last week, i Have been feeling really hungry and getting depressed over it. Today, I actually chewed a piece of fajita chicken for a minute and spit it out. It actually made me feel a little better. Pitiful, but it did help.

Good luck on the 5th! Keep us updated.

Tiffany

I read a recent article (I want to say it was the Journal on Bariatrics) that indicated one research study found that glue was the optimal intervention on leaks instead of a "surgical" response. Hope it goes well for you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
