What Should I Be Eating 1 Year Post Op?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

My one year comes up on 10 December and I cannot say how happy I am to have made this change in my life! It has been a great year!

However, I would like to find out what everyone is eating one year post op?

I currently have 3 meals per day at 1/2 cup (80 meat/20 veggie/fruit)

2 to 3 Snacks - high in protein/or a Protein Shake

1 cup of coffee w/creamer

What are the rules for eating at this point?

Am I eating enough? Am I eating too much! Help!

Well, At a year, you have the basic plan down, but tell us more. Are you still losing weight? Do you still want to lose weight? How active are you?

Likely forever the emphasis will remain on Proteins and Water first. Then veggies, and lastly complex carbs.

And keep with the Vitamins and remember the things to control...

Ok, so I guess I didn't give enough information! I guess I got a little excited!

I was sleeved on 12/10/12 - just about a year! My highest was 225 and I am now 118! I am not sure if I want/need to lose anymore...but I would not like to gain anything (except maybe muscle)!

My day is usually this:

6AM - Half of a boiled egg/half of a piece of fruit

Coffee/Water on the way to work and first hourish

8:30 or so - I have one packet of plain oatmeal with half a scoop of chocolate/vanilla Protein powder/with exactly 6 to 8 almonds.

10:30 or so - Celery with Low fat Greek Yogurt Ranch Dip (Homemade)

12:30 or so- lunch (Usually, 1/2 cup of baked chicken/green beans)

2:30 or so - Try to put down a Protein Drink

4:30 or so - cheese Stick

If i work out - I like to have the other half of my egg from the morning/and half of the other piece of fruit about 30 min before

(I get too winded if I don't)

Between 7 and 8PM (depending on if i workout) - dinner 1/2 cup of 80% meat 20% Veggie

I am pretty active! I workout at the gym at least 3 to 4 days a week! I absolutely love at home work out DVD's - Jillian Michaels is my hero! And I love Jari Love's Ripped DVD - it will get you into tip top shape!

I try to drink a lot of Water...but could always do better!

That sounds like perfection to me! I'm 9 months out and feel like I eat waaaay more. I fell off a couple times here and there. But for the most part I'm feeling in control. On a good day i eat

Premier Protein shake with half of a banana and a scoop of PB2

lunch is usually a Protein (kofta, Shish

or chicken kebab) with a small salad.

snack on a Quest bar or cheese

dinner is the same ( I work at my parents middle eastern restaurant)

Snack a light and fit Greek yogurt or other high protein snack.

Being a server I'm pretty active if we are busy. But I'm really trying to buckle down and get to goal. 15 more lbs. some days I hit the gym before work and do cardio. I will start toning really soon.

SW 244

CW 170

GW 155

Surgery date 2/22/13

Everyday will always be a struggle for me. But I'm only human and I make mistakes. But if I'm accountable I can always pick up the pieces. Logging my food is my go to always.

Sounds great. I'm 9 months out and definitely consume more. I also am pretty active and workout 5 days a week.

Breakfast - 1/2 cup 1% cottage cheese, fruit or fat free greek yogurt with fruit

lunch - 1 cup Progresso Soup or tuna or egg salad with light mayo

dinner -3 ozs of chicken, fish or beef with 1/4 cup of whatever side i've made the family

Snacks - mini baby bel light cheese, EAS Protein drink, 2tblspoons Peanut Butter, or cottage doubles

It usually adds up to about 1100 calories per day.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
