People don't recognize me!

Recommended Posts

After losing 117 in all and in less than 10 months I guess I shouldn't be surprised when we people I've known a long time don't recognize me but I think I still look like me. I mean, the weight loss is pretty obvious but it's still me. I even looked at some face comparisons and I just don't get it. A family friend we've known for more than 14 years stuck his hand out to shake my hand as I was going in for a hug. After a very awkward pause and then my husband walking up behind me he realizes it was me. I'm still me.

If I knew you in person and hadn't seen you in a while I would probably do a double-take upon seeing you now. LOL! It's amazing how much losing weight changes our face!!

You look amazing, btw!

last week my husband could not find me in a small market in our area..This has happened over and over again..NO one knows it is me....

I stood beside a friends son at the grocery store and he was always at my home..since he was a child....He did not recognize me at all and then I knew for sure...I have totally changed....

For me, inside and out...The only person who has had no problem with the changes is my grand daughter...She finds me every time when we are out....Children, love em!!!

You do look great!

I was having a rough day at work and all the Supervisor ( administrator ) could say is you look Absolutely Great. " you were good looking before but Wow". I really truly forgot about my rough day. He was sincere because I've known him for years. I was shocked! I thought for sure he'd ask about work related things. Didn't expect a compliment at least not from a supervisor. He was not flirting just amazed at my weight lost. Fantastic!

It's no wonder he didn't recognize you. You may feel the same, but you look totally different. Equally lovely, just different. Having people do the double take must be so fun. Congrats on your fantastic weight loss!

Agreed. You were beautiful then and you are now but you look very different. This happens to me a lot now. I just reintroduce myself to everyone so it won't be awkward for them.

Was it all healthy eating or working out too?

I haven't worked out at all, to be honest. It's really just Portion Control.< /p>

Not a bad problem to have, imma right? Worse than people not recognizing you because you gained a ton of weight. Congrats on your weight loss, it keeps newbies like me motivated!

Im happy someone posted about people not recognizing you. Because for the past month I felt as if I were in the twilight zone. Im just short of six months post op and at 104 lbs down. I went to church last week and people were introducing them selves to me. They just saw me last month. The craziest thing was when I went to motor vehicles to pay a fine and the guy looked at my license and asked if it were mine.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
