Please tell me that the weight will start falling off - -- don't know what I am doing wrong. Have had my first fill and have only lost 4 lbs. A total of 14, but the liquid and soft diet after surgery get to take credit for that!!

Is it because I'm still eating too much? I have changed my eating habits and don't eat the foods I used to - -I buy and use all low fat ingredients, etc. Am I just being too anxious?

Any suggestions???

You are doing good, you usually lose over the first few weeks then gain a little. The first fill usually doesn't do much, just keep eating off the list your Doctor gave you and schedule another fill as soon as your Doctor will let you. No the weight will not fall off! We all hoped that would happen! It is slow and you need to work at it.

Had my band done 3 weeks ago and between the pre-op diet and since I have lost a total of 50 lbs. Can't wait to lose the rest. I really enjoy coming to the site and reading of the success others have had.:clap2:

Today's my 6-month bandiversary, and I'm down 82 lbs.

Edit: I missed the "how?" part of your message. Basically, I follow the band rules most of the time, drink my Water, limit sugar, white flour, and trans/saturated fats. After the first 50-60 lbs., I started exercising, and have steadily progressed with that until I'm now doing a spin class 5-6 days a week plus strength training 2-3 days a week. I don't believe in keeping a "too tight" band, because I want to be able to eat Breakfast and solid Proteins. Oh, and I didn't use any Protein supplements until recently (due to the strength training).

For the last month or two I've been posting everything I eat and drink on my blog at Obesity Help, feel free to take a look:

I looked at your food log on obestiy help and I am eating very similar to you.I am not losing. I am wondering if it's becasue I take hormones. I have heard it's a lot harder to lose when you're on them.

I have had the band 3 month and have lost 24 lbs. 22 of it was the first 4 weeks of being on a liquid diet. I just had a fill last week and lost a little. I hope I don't go on another 2 month plataeu:speechles

Denise, there are so many things that can influence weight loss, and hormones can certainly play a part. But, my weight loss has been unusually fast because of a high basal metabolic rate. Plus, for the past 4 months I've been working out pretty intensely. Do you exercise? There's nothing to compare to exercise for improving your metabolism as well as burning calories.

Yes I do exercise about 6 days a week. I do a lot of cardio and I lift weights.

By hormones I was talking about hormone replacement therapy. I gained a lot of weight during menopause. That's when I started working out and going to the gym every day. I didn't lose any weight. That's when I decided to get the band.

Don't let a plateau go on that long. Get tough on fat! LOL Seriously, do what you have to go get things going again. Change things around, exercise more, change your exercise habits.

What are you doing for exercise and what is a typical daily food intake?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
