Two Days Post-Op

Recommended Posts

I am two days post op sitting in my hospital bed, ready to go home here soon... I am feeling pain upon getting into and out of bed and some when walking... I am doing great walking and feel better and better all the time... I am burping and having gas and that has helped... I am keeping down solid liquids well and have not had much nausea.

My question is when will I be comfortable enough to get up out of bed and get into bed? Will it be 2 week? 6 weeks? Ready to feel better soon! Thanks!

It shouldnt take too much longer. You have already lived the worst of it (barring unforseen complications) just take it slow and know that you are well on your way to healing and losing!!! have a great day!!!!

Good morning! I am 9 days post-op and started to be able to get in and out of bed and off lower chairs without pain at about day 6 or 7. I haven't taken pain medication since day 6 and am feeling great now, so don't worry you will be feeling better sooner than you think. Good luck!

Around day 5 I saw serious improvement in the pain when I'd sit or stand. It turned into more of a stitch in my side pain at the large incision site. That lasted another 10 to 15 days for me, but I know other people have had it go away earlier. Interestingly, since surgery I have to have much better posture in my office chair ( I work at a computer all day) because I slump a bit and then the pain in my side will start again. I then have to stretch, or take a short walk to get the pain to abate. One thing is for sure, each day you will see an improvement and it's so exciting! Good luck!

I live in an upstairs apartment and was wondering how difficult stairs will be? I am having my surgery on the 30th and starting to get anxious about these things. Also my bed sits low to the ground. Do you think that will be difficult too? So many things to think about pre surgery.....

Ive slept in my recliner because laying out flat in my bed kills me. I am 11 days post op. I finally bought a binder and that helps with it all big time

Everybody is different. I was sleeved on Monday and I have just the occasional soreness with getting in and out of bed and it was all on how I positioned myself getting up and out of bed. Now since I'm home I still have a little soreness no major pain and plus I started sleeping back on my side day 2 in the hospital and it's easier for me to get up this way.

thanks. I feel like I just jumped into this thread with my anxiety and craziness but I'm sure remember all of the pre op anxiety you may have experienced.

Each day does get better if you walk and drink your fluids. My doctor has me on a clear liquid diet with skim milk and Protein Shakes add to that until I see him next week on Wednesday. I am up sitting on the couch now watching television of course I have a pillow under my side and laying at a angle. You will be fine.

They should have shown you the "tuck and roll" method for getting in and out of bed, which makes things easier. If you have a woman around who had a c-section, they can show you.

Basically, roll yourself up like a rollie-pollie with your butt close to the edge (tuck), then roll off while still tucked extending your feet to the floor. Reverse for getting into bed.

It gets better soon, don't worry.

** edit **

Forgot to add ...

Holding a pillow tightly whilst doing this helps.

I have had 2 C-sections last one over 20 years ago but I didnt have any pain with either of them and was up that day. I dont recall the 'tuck and roll' method to get out of bed but I will try it if needed for this surgery for sure. thanks

I was able to get around well at day 5, but my belly button was painful for about a month.

I am 4 days out and have no problem getting into and out of bed as long as I take it slow. It gets better each day, I promise.

I am 8 days post op and cant sleeve on my side. Going up the stairs is not a big deal for me, not even the day after surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
