So, I ate out for the first time today!

Recommended Posts

It felt weird, food did taste like before, I went to I-Hop, got the Sirloin tips, ate only 1/4 of the portion, only one egg out of two, 1/8 of the hash-brown and a small pancake, it took me 40 minutes to do it, but I really enjoy the meal. I don't know if it was too much, since I don't have any restriction, my first feel will be on 11/12, so I've been controlling my intake by measuring, between 4 to 6 oz as per my nutritionist instructions. Then for dinner I had 2 1/2 pupusas (I used to ate 6-8 before the band ) that is a Salvadorian food that looks like a tortilla and is little/flat stuff with cheese and pork loin. So next week I have to watch my calories and my fat intake, my fitness pal went red on the fat part.

Congratulations! I haven't been that brave yet. I get my first fill on November 13th. Hope when I do go out, I make good choices of portion size like you did.

I remember how fearful I was the first time I ate out. What a victory it felt like that I could eat in a restaurant and not overeat. I love how the lapband has turned me into a normal-eater, making good choices in small sizes. Such a great freedom to know that the lapband is there keeping us moving towards good health and our goal weight.

It's tough in the beginning, the first few months were the hardest for me and I stayed away from temptation as much as possible....I even gained weight between my first and 2nd fill....

But I can say now, after the band is properly adjusted, it does not matter where you are or what is placed in front of you...the band is totally in control...can't get any better than this!

Hi there, I'm on day twelve and have been out to eat twice. First time was a few days ago. There's a little bookstore cafe we love. My husband got a huge melted Reuben kind of thing and I had a cup of carrot ginger Soup (puréed). Then yesterday we took off for the shore -- a beautiful sunny Saturday and we live in snow country so this felt like a last chance before winter. We found a Mexican Bistro. My husband had a Margarita and big bowl of chili. I had a cup of tortilla soup with the tortillas on the side. This was another blended soup -- white Beans, etc. It was yummy and it was just great to feel like I'm able to go out without a problem -- even while still on post-op diet. Must confess I look forward to a Margarita one of these days. But since no eating/drinking at the same time I guess it's sort of one or the other and I need food!

I love going out to eat now....we've never been big out to eat-ers...but since being banded 8 weeks ago I've gone out quite a bit. Been trying new foods and portions and cravings are not a problem. Eat a little bit of everything and really enjoy it....nice to leave the table NOT so stuffed that you feel like the thanksgiving turkey.

No fills as of yet and love that the weight is just coming off....never felt so good....have energy and just feel good about ME! What an awesome feeling!

Went to the Japanese buffet last night and had one plate of assorted sushi and sashimi and less than one roll (six slices). Contemplated going for a few more items but knew it would not have been because I was hungry so I engaged in conversation till the feeling passed. Felt so good not to give in to the temptation.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
