1 year banded and problems all the way

Recommended Posts

Hello there, as of last week I was 1 year banded and had nothing but troubles. First I wasn't loosing then had a fill and still didn't loose following that I went back and had no Fluid in the band. So I got refilled and went back for a check up and everything was fine. Then it came to where it wasn't able to eat meat or carbs so my doctor was going to Un fill as it may have been to tight but he couldn't find the port. So 1 week later I had to have a X-ray and drink this awful corky stuff he checked the band was in place and port turns out everything was ok. Except the flow through the band was to loose. He then removed all the fluid and refilled it with a bit extra to help. With in a week of doing this iv lost 10lbs and this May sound strange but the restriction is a whole different experience than before. So my point in this is to ask has anyone else had similar problems? And how would you describe your restriction (feelings, reflux, portion size ect) this would be very helpful. I'm also looking for friends on myfitnesspal from other people who have the band to get a in site as to what they can eat and how the band is working for them. Please add me thecutecandygirl Thank you xx

Every fill is going to have a different effect. If you can't tolerate something now, try again in 2-3 weeks. You may be able to tolerate it at another fill level as well, it just depends on the food, the fill and your band.

It can be very hard to find that perfect combination of band adjustments, food choices, and eating habits/techniques....

It took me a bit of a struggle also, but for me it was only 6 months, not a year...as a result I came out giving up meat altogether, along with some other foods.

(BTW, not eating meat anymore thrilled all my other Dr.'s to no end, including my cardiologist)

Thank you B-52 I tried to cut out meat and I got told off as they said it's very essential or they would fill the band. Since my fill n clean eating (no preservatives) in a week iv lost 10lbs. It's just nice to find other people who aren't finding it as easy as the doctors say it is :)

Since you gave up meat, what do you eat to get all your Protein?

Since you gave up meat, what do you eat to get all your Protein?

I start my day with a smoothie made in the blender = 35-40gms of protein...

Then there's chicken/turkey, fish, tofu, cheese, beans..etc, etc...sometimes yogurt but I tend to avoid too much dairy products...cheese is enough.

Can also have a Protein snack - met-rx chocolate bars for example...there is plenty of things out there high in protein...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
