Hi there, I will be banded on 11/5 and have been given my instructions for post-op. Seems like there is a lot of variation between doctors on this and of course patients are all different, too. Here's mine: the day after surgery: Clear Liquids only followed by one week full liquids, then one week full liquids and smooth foods (mushies) followed by two weeks soft, moist foods. At that point I have a return visit with the surgeon to determine whether or not a fill is needed.

Thanks, Terry -- that's reassuring. Worried that only one day clear might be too lenient but I will follow the doctor's lead. They've done plenty of bands. I'm a gardener and have been making some things for the freezer: applesauce, cauliflower smoosh, etc. Also those cartons of Pacific organic Soups will come in handy for the full liquids phase....

That's the same program I had but they did advance me to soft/solid foods quicker than they had originally told me. Biggest thing to remember about the post op diets is they are a guideline that is written for hundreds of people. Follow the diet as bet you can but also keep in touch with your doc and let him know how you're doing through the stages. They may advance your stages or prolong them depending on how you're healing. Good Luck!

My doctor was way more strict! I was on liquids for 3 whole weeks! Then 1 week of mushy foods then FINALLY I could eat solids! I've had two fills of 1 cc each so I only have 2 ccs in my band but I'm consistently losing weight!

our plan is 3 phases in 3 weeks but not necessarily a week each. you don.t advance till you hit your protein/water/bowels goals. then advance one meal at a time. liquids, thicken liquids, purreed foods. after 3 weeks solid food. my surgeon doesn't require a presurgery diet at all. they simply ask you not to go to a buffet the day before surgery. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
