NSV's: Promotion at Work and Deciding who to date...

Recommended Posts

Disclaimer: I am not bragging, I'm celebrating the changes in my life and giving newbies a couple of things to look forward to.

I had no idea 50lbs and 3.5 months would make such a difference. I just got the news that I'm being promoted and have a FAT salary increase (after 9 years and very hard work that has gone unnoticed/unappreciated) and I'm trying to decide who to date. I know my promotion has a lot to do with the weightloss. I work in a male-dominated industry (oil and gas) and only attractive women seem to get good breaks in the office environment - just being honest, I am NOT bragging because I think I'm just regular!!! It also seems that I meet a new guy every other day and while it's easy to weed many of them out, I have three excellent prospects and I wish I could hang on to all of them.

I am fully aware that two of them would not have given me a second look before I lost this weight and this will likely have some bearing on my final decision. But, it feels great to be more attractive again and to feel people staring at you from a distance...and you know why.

It's also nice to hear "you're the perfect size now...don't lose anymore weight". I'm still going for 19 more pounds and hope to get there by the end of the year.

Wow, good for you on both counts!! What's your secret though? I haven't been on a date in 6 years! Seriously, I'm just going to be one of those old cat ladies, sitting on her porch with cats everywhere, doing word search puzzles. LOL

My secret is newfound confidence to go new places wearing things that fit :) . I smile more (not really, it's just that my cheeks no longer hold my lips down - LOL) and I'm open to returning lingering eye contact. Before when someone would look at me, I'd smile and look away...not anymore, I'm like "what's uuuuup" with my eyes. LOL

Ahhhh!! Congratulations! I'm sure you deserve every good thing coming to you.

As far as being more attractive (something I don't feel about myself yet) it makes me uber uncomfortable now because I get those lingering looks from men. I've ALWAYS been very friendly, even at my highest weight, saying hello & good morning to strangers (men &women) making small talk on a line, thanking the men who take away our waste every time I see them... And so forth. But NOW... I'm making less eye-contact with people, particularly with men, because I don't want them to think I think I'm ALL THAT.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
