The massage table feels a whole lot wider now!

Also....big news flash...last night I took a bath. I gave up on getting into the tub in 2007, when it just became too much of a risk that once in, I would not be able to get back out.

Six years of showering, people! And last night, I just looked at the tub and said "I think it is time." So I filled that bath up and just soaked and smiled.

My girls walked in (we have no privacy in the house, dammit!) and said "Mom! I've never seen you in the bath!" (They could not possibly know why I never took baths; probably thought it was a time thing.) I'm all get out ladies....this is MY time!

OMG the list could go on and on for most of us I am sure:

- Right now wearing a XL shirt with horizontal stripes and feeling good

- Seeing my collar bones, which made me feel good cutting all my hair off short.

- Down three sizes in jeans

- Crossing my legs

- Running in softball and not always getting out cause I am so slow

- Not getting out of breath doing the stairs

- Buying clothes from regular stores, not plus size

- Not afraid to leave food on a plate

- Fitting in between equipment at work and being able to tie my isolation gown in the front (almost): I am a nurse

The list goes on and on.... I Love my band and although we have rough days I wouldn't change a thing! :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful day, and remember even the small things mean so much to us.... and not always the number on the scale!

Just realized this one today!!! I haven't laid down to zip my jeans, in forever. Even after washing them. After I do laundry, I keep expecting them not to fit, and it continues to amaze me, the do!!! :) Yay

Crazy you mention seeing your collarbone. That's a good one. I have found myself poking and prodding my bony self as of late. It has been a long time since I have felt my own rib cage and my shoulders are quite bony. My Wife is not thrilled with the boniness as it affects her cuddling. LOL

The collarbone thing is a biggy! So are the ribs!!

I am actually in love with my collar bone, in fact my daughter has even commented that I should wear shirts that show off my shoulder and collar bone more often because it looks really good.

The rib thing is kinda funny. Between your ribs, in the center of your rib cage, there is a connective area called the xiphoid process. I actually went to my doctor in a panic because I had this "big weird bump" on my chest in the middle of my rib cage. He actually laughed at me and goes "ummm, that's you, not a tumor. I'm guessing you've just never been small enough to feel or see it before"

So...yeah..I freaked out over my own rib cage ;)

There are so many to list, and so many that have been listed that I can relate to. For me today, my NSV is being genuinely happy to read all these posts and be able to relate to them and all of you!

A little ones but important to me:

1) I am able to go downstairs step by step alternating my legs and feet, no one step at a time like I use to do because my knee was starting to hurt.

2) The malicious/naughty look of my husband while telling me "wow, you are loosing weight for real".

I'm so happy !

Another NSV is doing all my running around and finishing, not like before I had to quit because I was tired. Today, after work I came home cut the grass, made dinner, dishes, and even made homemade Gluten Free Brownies for my son who has Celiac...!!!! And now I'm going to playing his favorite card game!!! Yeah, this would have taken me a week ack in the day!! :D

As a another day passes, and another pound lost, I feel happier, confident, and stronger. Being able to look at individuals who I used to fear, now I don't waste my time over them. :)

I used to be upset, now I feel so much better. As if a fog has been lifted. Who knows, maybe that has to do with eating healthier. They do say bad foods are addicting. But all I know, I feel good. And I want to continue feeling this way.

Oh wow!

Cleaning up and not having to sit down a million times

My man wrapping his arms all the way around me

Goin up a flight of stairs and not being winded

Sliding on a pair of jeans and tracking they are too big in the waist

Getting compliments from coworkers

Having fun shopping again

Crossing my legs

Feeling comfortable at business mtgs

Revamping my entire style

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
