My wife and I are set to see Dr. Ortiz on the 26th of March. Any last minute pep talks? We are both nervous but excited at the same time. Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated!

I did not go to dr ortiz but I did go to mexico and I would do it all over again. I had my surgery on the 3rd of this month, I am doing ok I ended up catching a cold and it really hour me hard. I am also struggling with my brain not being done eating, this is definitely not the easy way out. I am still very happy that I got it done I just wish it came with a new brain lol! Good luck and keep us posted

Well, today is the day! We are at the Marriott and will be picked up soon. We are hoping all goes well and we made the right decision. I have to say, if it wasn't for this forum, I would not have been able to go thru with this. I know there is always negativity which I needed to see, but the positive results have obviously outweighed the negative in my mind since I'm now here. We will keep u updated if you'd like.

6 weeks out and never looking back again. Can't wait to hear from you 6 weeks from now.

Tell Doctor Ortiz we are his biggest fans and now that i am 155lbs i can't thank this surgery enough for making such an impact on my life. Looking forward to your updates...Good luck and have patience and walk a lot...you need to walk. Try not to have ice cubes right after...and if you have pain or fireworks feeling ask them to give you the BUSCAPINA it helped me A LOT with the muscle spasms. Walk walk walk and sip your gatorade. GOOD LUCK!

Two days out of surgery. Stomach cramps are a bit painful and happen every time we drink anything BUT we were able to walk around the San Diego Zoo for 5 hours with maybe 3 - 2 minute rests. If the spasms are the worst part, we will be just fine.

WOW i cannot believe you are at the Zoo for five hours. That is incredible- i can't say i could do that after day 2...just because all i wanted to do was sleep.< /p>

Congrats! and yes the spasms are the worst. The dynamic duo!

Congratulations to you and your wife!!! I think the hardest parts were the evening of surgery and the diet after surgery. Once you are able to eat solid foods.... It's all smooth sailing from there!!! Keep updating so we can see how you are both doing!

1 week has passed and my wife an I are both feeling pretty good. The liquid only is gonna be a struggle for the 1st three weeks and it's hard to tell at times if I'm having hunger pains or cramping. I'm sure it will take some getting used too. Other than the first day after surgery, I can say that it has not slowed us down. We spent the weekend doing spring cleaning, washing cars, etc. Hope this helps :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
