Six months post op today. Down 80 pounds. Went from size 18 jeans to a size 6. Some days I still can't believe it. I have never been this small in my whole life. About 15 pounds to my goal weight. Best decision ever!

Wow that is really incredible! How much are you working out? Have you followed the diet completely or what? I've been really good and am still only down 55 lbs since surgery (100 total though) and I was super stoked about that. A size 6 seems like a pipe dream at this point.

Hi all- it has been a long time since I checked in.

Its funny to look back on the last six (almost) months, and see how much my life has changed. I am down 70 lbs, and went from a tight size 20,to a comfortable size 12. I only weigh once a week, and it has slowed down so much. I spent the better part of 2 months bouncing around in the 170's, before I finally hit 169 lol.

Going out to eat is probably still the hardest thing to do- to find something I can eat that is not a total waste of money for the amount of food I get. I stick with chicken or salad usually. I still have a hard time with beef- ground or any other kind. It just makes my stomach hurt- you know that kind of different yuck hurt that I never felt before this surgery. Sometimes I feel it after just one bite lol. It sure makes me look at food in a different way.

My downfall???? CANDY!!! I have never in my life craved sweets- until now. And the bad part??? It doesn't make me sick. Bad bad bad. Especially the yummy malted robin eggs that are out for Easter right now. Oh, I have true empathy now for people who crave sweets.

Anyway....hugs to everyone who has been on this journey with me.

...Chelle

Has anyone else experienced dumping yet? I dumped yesterday for the first time. Wow, not something I want to experience again! At least I now know that it can/will happen if I eat too much sugar/fat. Until yesterday I thought that I might be someone who doesn't dump. Molly

I have dumped a few times but not on sweets. It's weird I can't really pinpoint what it is. For instance I have it now. Been on the pot for over an hour. Not sure if it was a new hummus I tried or some crabmeat from Aldi. Won't be eating either ever again!! I have only tried very little of sweets and haven't dumped. But I don't crave sweets. I crave the fast food!!!

I am almost to my 6 months and have lost 82 pounds. Was a size 26 and am now a size 14. I have a lot of extra skin on my belly, arms and inner thighs. I workout at least 5 times a week but have a feeling I will still need surgery for this skin. :( my boobs are still pretty big too. And droopy lol!!

I can't believe it's been 6 months already October buddies!!! You are all doing fantastic and you all look amazing!!! I'm being brave and adding some photos lol

Hi guys just checking in. So I am almost 6 months out (April 30/May 1). I am down 76 pounds from surgery. The past 6 weeks have been frustrating. I am bouncing on the scale the same 3 pounds. I am currently 206 pounds. I am not "stalling per say" as I am slowly losing inches still.

I am really hoping to be under 200 by my 6 month mark, but at this rate I don't think it will happen. I hope everyone is well, and I am hoping for some more check ins ♡

Hi Everyone, I go in for my 6 month check in next week. I've lost 52 since my revision from the lapband. It has been a slow process but I'm doing my best to be patient. I'm 191. The doctor's office expected me to be 180 in April. Maybe a miracle will happen and I will lose 11 pounds by next week..lol. I have lost alot of inches. I'm very pleased about that. I hope everyone else is doing good. I have 25 more pounds until goal!

Hi October buddies.

I had my rny on 10/20/13.

Thought id jump on the band wagon and update too.

Ive lost 60lbs since I started my pre-op diet and have lost 48lbs since day of surgery.

Ive always considered myself a slow loser throughout this journey. My surgeon seems happy and has told me he is positive I'll reach goal.

Im currently 194 lbs. Goal is 169. (Im 5,11") So that 25 lbs to go.

I dump on lots of sugar but luckily for me my sugar addiction has really weaned off since surgery. A blessing!

My hair is so fine now and I have a receeding hairline like a balding man! However I can see wispy new hair coming in, so its definitely growing back :-)

I have been sitting at my current weight for weeks now. That's my only concern. 6 weeks at 194-198.

No matter what I try to do...im not budging.

I love looking at my measurement chart. My waist used to be 46.5 inches!! It is now 32 inches. So happy!

Thanks for the updates ladies. Rachel

I thought I would post my info. I had surgery on October 23rd and just went to my 6 month post op appointment. Things I haven't been doing and need to start: a regular exercise routine, get in more Protein, and drink more Water. I'm also awful when it comes to taking my Vitamins. The Iron makes me sick, and I just don't want to take them. Other than the things I need to work on, I feel great.

Weight before surgery: 256 lbs

Weight at 6 month post op apt: 179.8 lbs

Have you tried different forms of Iron? I eat a Bariatric Advantage lemon-lime chewable each day.

No I'm headed to Philly again. My timing for these things is always messed up. I'm hoping I can make it in May.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
