December Surgeries!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

Lol that's right! I told everyone I probably would not be good company that day lol. But as long as the pain mess work I will be ok. I am severely allergic to pain!! One of my coworkers had it done 4 years ago and she never had any paid or even pain meds even the day after the surgery.

No pain meds? I know everyone's different. But I'm afraid with me at least it'll be no pain no gain.

I know this is the pre-op forum but ya all feel like family. I am hurting. I think it is bloating and such. I know this may not be a good topic, but I need help with going to the bathroom. Anyone can help me please. I just want to poop!!! I have taken mom (milk of magnesium).

Hey all!!

Today is the first day I feel as if I can even try to work at getting the required Protein and fluids in. This has been a lot rougher because of the complications during surgery but I feel today I'll 'make it'!!

I am pretty weak so I'm getting up each and every hours to get my own Protein Drink and move around. After the game my husband will try to walk with me outside for as long as I can. It has been complicated to go outside also because it has been been between 5 and 15 degrees and slick for over a week!

I'm feeling like today could be the turning point...finally!!! Really not bad considering how complicated surgery was and it is day 7. I wish it would have gone as planned but you know I will NEVER take this for granted. I have gone through a LOT to make these life changes!!!

Hope all is going good for everyone!!!!

For what it's worth, there are several good threads on the Post Gastric Bypass Forum. I saw one on Poop and I started one for December 2013 surgeries. Although I think topic specific threads would be more interesting than my December 2013 surgeries thread.

What about ex-lax? I've heard that works well. I may get me some tomorrow for when I come home. Hope you're feeling better and that you've been able to poop. I'd say if something doesn't change soon to call the doc.

Today I "varied" from the last two weeks. I have been doing EXCELLENT on the pre-op (RYN) diet. Mine is a 20 carbs or less/day and HIGH Protein focus diet. I went to lunch at Applebee's with my daughter. She wanted something on the 2 for $20 menu and so did I. So, I ordered the 7oz sirloin steak with steamed veggies (good choice, right?)....she ordered the crazy calorie and jacked up CARB x a million Pasta dish with breadstick (She is 113 pounds and can handle this!). The issue was this.............the 2 for $20 comes with an appetizerto share. We chose the boneless chicken wings with OUT sauce (sauce on the side). So...........I had 4 pieces (chicken bites)............they are DEEP FRIED (I had forgotten that part when we ordered). I went ahead and ate them, chose to just go "over" today in the carbs. Ummmmmmmmmmmmm I was SICK (potty) with in about 40 mins. I swear to you............the grease just about killed me!!! This is NOT the type of food I have been eating for the past two weeks. This is NORMAL food that I USED to eat...often!!! I used to always have potty issues and now I have confirmed why I used to always get 'sick' and feel like crapola! TA-DA! I am done! I soooooooooo didn't need those few bites and they were not that good either. I totally enjoyed the med-rare 7oz sirloin steak and steamed veggies, MUCH more......I even got SUPER full. Lesson learned! Live and learn! I have 10 more days of this low carb diet, one day following that for a colon cleans and a clear liquid diet and then RYGB on TUESDAY the 17th! Yahoooooooooooooo!

It is definitely a learning experience. Everyone is so different - we all can eat different things with different results, both positive and negative. I read and listen to other people's experiences but always introduce foods cautiously and within my own team's guidelines. It's great that you are experiencing some of these things pre-op. It'll help educate you for the post-op experience. You are not that far away!

(Appetizer tip - I always go for shrimp cocktail. I never had a problem with it. Sometimes I make it my whole meal.)

Today is day 3 of the preop diet, liquids only...optifast 5 times a day, chicken broth, sf Jello and Popsicles...finding it hard to stomach 5 shakes a day. Final appt with nutritionist on Tuesday, surgery 12-20.

My asthma is flared up bad right now but I am trying to stay off the prednisone. Anyone have surgery while on steroids? Any complications? Feeling nervous that they may try to back up surgery because of my asthma:(

So I am on day 7 of my pre op diet and had been doing so well till last night. My head won and I ate dinner. What's really annoying me is it was not my stomach. But I'm not going to dwell on it. Just going to move forward and today I've done wonderful. Seems like weekdays are so much easier bc I'm at work so the next week should be a breeze. I hope. Starting diet I was 304lbs and I am now 297.6lbs. Very happy!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
