I am still in the starting phase and debating between sleeve and roux en y. The surgeon recommends bypass for all his patients over the sleeve. I guess I am still scared of the bypass. I meet for my one on one the 26th so I can discuss it more then.

I am 5'5 and 245 lbs. did anyone else fall into this category or a 41 bmi?

I just had bypass on 8/12. I was 285 the day of the surgery and my bmi was something around 46. Bypass is the golden standard and I strongly believe there are fewer side effects like severe reflux and weight regain. It is your decision, bypass is not for everybody, but I heard of many people having revision from sleeve to RNY. Good luck!!

I'm not 5'5". I'm 5' 1 1/2"... But my bmi was at 41 when I got started. My high weight was 223lbs. Surgery was on aug. 8th 2013. I lost 13lbs before my surgery date. So I weighed 210 the day I had the gastric bypass. Today I weighed 201.6 lbs and its only been one week since surgery. I am very happy that I chose bypass over sleeve. :-) I hope this helps.

Thanks guys, I have always struggled

With weight and I firmly believe that if I don't do this I would be at 260 or more in a few months. I know my weight is a little on the lower end which Is why I guess I am surprised that I would consider bypass. I am starting to get reflux though and other issues associated with weight.

Ultimately I will trust the doctors. I spent the day reading the complication section though:( now I am terrified.

I am 5'4 and my start weight was 256. I went with the bypass because that is what my doc recommended for me.

The only complication I had is nausea for the first three months. It was taken care if by medication.

I have lost 120 in 13 months.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
