Hi everyone, I am new to this site. I already appreciate all of the stories and knowledge that i am gaining already. I am almost 4wks post op. I had the Gastric Bypass on 7/16. Overall Im doing well and learning to adjust to my new life. The hardest part for me is dealing with the mental effects of what did I do to myself...LOL.

I have does days too. Those break downs can be scary, bit we just have to encourage ourselves with the reminder of why we had the surgery in the first place. Nice to meet you too, keep in touch.

I also had RNY on 7/16. I am having trouble getting in my 60g of Protein but finally did today. I have also experienced my first stall this week, scale hasn't moved for 3 days. Glad to see someone with the same surgery date.

Please dont mention PROTEINl....UGH. That is the hardest thing for me to tolerate. I have looked up different recipes for mixing the shakes and nothing is working for me. I dont think I have had 60g since my surgery...I have to try harder though. My husband and I got into an argument tonight about it, and I promised I would try harder. I know I have too.

Just keep working at it. It will eventually happen. I still struggle some days to get my 60 in! I am amazed at people who say they get 80 per day! I went through a phase where I hated the shakes as well. I am 9 weeks post op, and I can tolerate the shakes fairly well. I try to get at least one in per day. I hope to change that to 2 very soon, but for me I am thankful I can do the one right now. I don't enjoy meat at all anymore. That sounds so strange coming out of my mouth. haha. I am hoping that eventually starts to change.

I had my surgery on july 23rd and I can not even get down half of the shake without it wanting to come back up. I am tolerating food ok for the most part though and I have been eating a lot of greek yogurt to make up for the Protein shake....is that ok? or should we be still drinking the shakes ? I am at a stand still in my weight loss as well and I have not lost any weight in 4 days...please tell me what I am doing wrong...is it the shakes? I have been walking almost a mile daily....also I am wondering what other exercise can be done at this point to help things move along

Have you tried unflavored Protein in Vitamin Water or crystal light? It's not great, but tolerable if ice cold. I would definitely up your protein and exercise. Check with you doc to see what exercise is ok at this point.

I had my surgery on 7/9 and I'm on regular foods now. I don't have any problem getting my Protein in - sometimes as much as 90!!! I had a week stall once on regular food and I know it was my body adjusting to the changes. I had a WTH did I do to myself one time and that was right after the surgery - at this point I feel really good and I start back exercising this week!!! I haven't had a food that I can't eat yet so I guess I'm lucky. I keep all meals around 3 oz Protein, then veggie and if there is room a carb. My Proteins will vary depending on how dense they are. I ate my first beef last week and did great (lean beef of course). So far I am loving my journey and enjoy watching my body change.

Good luck everyone!!

I agree we should keep in touch, helps to know someone else is going through the same things. I think having regrets is normal so close after surgery because everything is so new, our bodies are trying to adjust, and our emotions are crazy. Hopefully the Protein thing will become easier when we move to the next stage. Have u tried Gas X chewables after u eat? They have been a big help for me. Good luck to you!

I have not tried the gas x for some reason the nurses told me they won't work so I never bought them but I will now seeing as so many people use them here.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
