MAY 2013 POST-OP GROUP

It is totally not surprising to feel that way. Eating was my everything. My emotional coping tool that I have had my entire life is not there right now' date=' and it is hard. Have you talked about it with your doc? If not, you might want to let him or her know, since it could be an indicator that your Vitamins are off.

I have been giving myself little tasks to do when I start feeling out of sorts. I never really developed healthy boredom skills, I always just went to the pantry. What I am doing right now, is to try to get my mind off it. I made a list of things to do that take about a half hour, wrote them on small slips of paper, and put them in a jar. When I start that restless feeling, I go pick a slip and do it. Examples are: take pictures in the yard or house like I am laying out a story in a magazine; de-clutter two drawers in a room; purge kids' clothes and prep them for donation; organize a page in one of my scrapbooks, etc.

It's not much work, and it helps break that mood. I try not to do huge tasks that can't get done within about 30 minutes, because that left me feeling defeated.

We are people who have made this huge, life-changing alteration to how we usually do stuff. It is going to get uncomfortable, there's no shame in that. If you feel it is overwhelming you, though, you might want to seek some counseling or go to a post-op support group.

I hope that helps....(((((hug)))))[/quote']

This does help. Thanks :)

I have been talking with my nut and she thinks the same thing. My vitamins are a little off but also I need to get more foods in like fruits & veggies. I do feel better since I scaled back my hours at work. I go home & rest. Then I walk a little then I get ready for the next day. I'm getting there but you are right I lost a friend in food & need to replace it with something better. My therapist has been helpful with this but I still have. Ways to go.

I get dumping from anything like that. It's the sweetener. My nut said to try the ones with stevia because that's more natural. I'd step away from those for a few weeks & try again. It sucks because I love that stuff. Hang in there you might like them eventually.

I have no desire to taste those. My pouch likes plain cold Water or ice from sonics.

I'm at that stage too. Having the surgery still amazes me. It's like coming suddenly awake after jumping off a cliff. And then I feel okay about jumping. Lots of chaos in the brain right now.

Yes everyone does. I put on 4 kegs in two days. It's all the I've fluids that you have had pumped into you. You will pee it all out in about 4 days. Don't worry.

Yes I gained 11 lbs while in the hospital. It's all the stuff they give you in your IV. I asked the nurse and she let me hold the tube of stuff and it weighed a lot and they put several of those thru you. I did loose it all like with in a week though.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
