Oh hon I am sorry. I can totally relate. I didn't tell my mom until the month before and she spent the entire month trying to talk me out of it. I am sure your grandmother adores you and worries. There is so much ignorance about the surgery too. I know my mom thought right up until two days before that it was open not laproscopic. Try and educate your grandmother and I am sure she'll cone around. Praying for you!!

Thank you @iamworthit! That's a good idea.

SURGERY IS ONE WEEK FROM TODAY! I have to say that this morning I am not doing well. I have been doing the liquid diet for one week and have lost not an ounce. I have NEVER followed a diet more closely than I have this. I have stayed under 900 calories every day. Up to this point I had been following my fitness pal and have lost 33 pounds. I keep telling myself it has to break. But for the past two mornings I have actually been up. I actually could cry!

Thanks for the encouragement! I haven't walked as much as I should yet, so maybe that is part of it. I also need to move the scale or force myself not to get on it everyday. It's just so hard when you hear that others are losing so much more than you are since surgery. Thanks again.

I've been obsessing. Everyone keeps telling me that 13lbs in 2 weeks is awesome and I get that. I just really had a goal in my head that I would be able to get to before my 2 week post op appt and it looks like I'm not going to make it. I think I need to get off the stupid scale and get back to doing stuff. Honestly though at this point I haven't been able to get all my Protein or fluids in daily and I believe that's the issue. Today I move to puree's, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, and soft cheese. I can't wait to put food in my mouth!

Take a deep breath and step away from the scale!!!! 33 pounds is huge, I'm sure your body is freaking out thinking you're starving it to death and is trying to hang on to every ounce. It will start again eventually, but it old be days or weeks. Stick with the diet and exercise program you've been given and you'll be fine. And get used to this, happens to almost everyone post op. at 1 month post-op I hit a wall. Eating 800 calories a day, walking 45 minutes 4-5 days a week and lost 2 pounds in a month...I was fit to be tied! I really really really recommend only weighing once a week or every other week though...those scales will make you crazy!!!!

Good luck to everyone going in today! I have my pre-op this afternoon.I have told a few friends/co-workers of my plan. They are all very supportive of me. I have been researching this since 1999 and have never followed through. My mom was never on board with the idea. She has finally come around and I think that is what I have been waiting on.

I agree with you! I made myself nuts with the scale when I was banded and now with my RNY I refuse to go down that path again. I had surgery last Wednesday and haven't weighed since the morning of. I didn't want the freak out from the Water and gas gain afterwards and told myself I would wait a week then only once per week from there on. I refuse to let that scale dictate my life. I am following my plan and believe it will work even if slow it will work.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
