I think it would drive me nuts. I probably would have picked mine off by now. Your surgery was a week before mine and my steri strips are almost all off and it's healed underneath so I bet yours are going to be fine.

I'm trying to ignore it...my drain site didn't have glue and its fully healed but I'm just too nervous to get it off!!! Lol I'm probably gonna wait till its of the incision and then work on getting the rest off...

Glad mist everyone is doing so great!! I am 8 days post op, still having intractable diarrhea. Today at least I got in all my protein. Still unable to gag down any meds, even liquid or crushed. Weak but trying to walk. Blended smooth Progresso soup is my favorite thing. The protein drinks are so sweet they make me nauseous. My doc seems to be attributing my very slow progress to my PRE-existing MS. Maybe. Guess time will tell!

Yikes! Keep hanging in there. I hope you feel better soon. I'm still on clear liquids. I hope I'm able to still do well after I start protein. I'm thinking about you.

You are doing great if you are getting proteins in! Sorry to hear about the diarrhea. I've had that since the hospital and it will not go away :( how are you getting your protein drinks in since they are so sweet? I am also 5 days post op and can't seem to handle the sweetness of any of them. Any tricks?

HW 227, SW 214, CW 222 - Loss To Date 13lb - Surgery RNY 3/14/13

Hello everyone!!! I had RNY 2/13/13. I am down 38lbs!!! I look forward to talking to everyone about our journeys!

Please excuse the blondness of me posting here in march!! Hahahaha

Hi All, having surgery at 9:30 tomorrow morning! More excited then nervous at this point. Wishing my fellow first day of spring surgeries the very best!

I didn't get any glue. I only had some steri-strips. A couple fell off and I just replaced them with stuff from my stash. I'm a wound care and hyperbaric nurse. You may want to steri-strip over the are where glue is coming off' date=' but it's going to come off eventually. As long as incisions look closed and not draining I wouldn't worry too much about it.[/quote']

I'm a wound nurse too! :)) woo hoo!!!

Kraney: caffeine free instant coffee and unsweetened dark cocoa powder-like a tsp-help cut thru the sweetness when I'm mixing with milk. If you're mixing with water lemon juice helps. Otherwise I wouldn't be getting in the protein. Although given the incredible diarrhea, not sure what I'm absorbing!

I have MS as well and have not been able to take any of my meds. I am only 4 days post op and have noticed that the spasms are more frequently attacking my bowels. I add cocoa to the protein shakes and have been doing smoothies to get all of my protein in. GNC has an unflavored protein you can add to other items that doesn't add sweetness. As far as the engery levels I have none. I am giving myself at least 2 weeks to fully recover before worrying about energy. With the MS I had none so it will be a longer recovery then others.

Gibby, do you think you might be lactose intolerant? I was having constant diarrhea on protein shakes before surgery and I switched to isolated soy protein and it made ALL the difference.

Good luck!!!

Cranial malady-my shakes are all lactose free & I'm using lactaid or soy milk. I see no difference in the diarrhea when I add a 1/4 cup of ricotta.

Janel-I hear you re the energy level! I am so grateful my surgeon approved me for an initial 8 week leave. I am concentrating on getting to next diet stage so I can add some fiber (retried beans here I come) in hopes of alleviating the diarrhea, & then I'll worry about energy levels. My spasms have not been too bad w/o baclofen, but I'm still on codeine, so that may be helping.

Ok' date=' I'm now11 days post op. everything is fine EXCEPT I wake up with terrible nausea that lasts for hours. Sometimes protein helps, but it doesn't go away until afternoon. Not sure why, but feels like pregnancy all over again! I've already lived that 4 times, don't need to do that again! Is anyone else still battling nausea? Seems like the best cure is sleep, but I'm back at work and - ain't nobody got time for that! Lol. Anybody got any ideas? My surgeon just ki da nodded his sexy head and said its normal, but doesn't sound too normal since I can't find anyone experiencing the same thing! Help![/quote']

My doctor put me on zofran, use as needed. You just stick it under you tongue and it dissolves. Call your surgeons office tomorrow, see if they can call it into your pharmacy, it works really well. Good for us post opers!
