Hey everybody I'm supposed to be going home today I had a pretty rough morning. I had throw up and drain my g tube 3 times i don't know what caused the nausea. I did just take off my anti-nausea patch last night and i'm wondering if i would have been feeling this way every morning. I've got a headache that won't quit. I'm going to take a shower around noon and hopefully my surgeon will release me to go home. I hope you are all doing well.

Hello everyone. I am 48 hours post op and just started my clear liquid diet an hour ago. So far do good. I feel so much better today. Yesterday was rough. I just felt like I couldn't wake up and couldn't get into a comfortable position. I'm praying the surgeon sends me home today. I need my own bed. My poor roommate had the same procedure and is not doing as well. It has been hard to sleep because of the nurses coming in and out.

Hope everything goes better for you today. It's so hard to get comfortable in the hospital. I hope you are home to your own bed soon :) at least you'll get a little more sleep at home without all the interruptions. :)

Pixie dust to Janel! How long to first BM? I'd laugh but it hurts. RNY 3/11 and I've had no BM' date=' just completely liquid explosive diarrhea, 5-10 times a day. I feel like the bottle of liquid colace my doctor sent me home with is mocking me![/quote']

Don't know if that was good pixie dust sent my way. I'm peeing razor blades. I am getting in all my Protein but my fluids are really lacking. I think its a mental issue of avoidance to the razor blades. Hubby took off from work to take care of me because of the pain and fever and is being a pain about keeping my schedule.

Note to all TURN OFF your phone's otherwise spouses tend to be pain in the ass when you have everything programed with announcements of what your suppose to be doing. IE drink, eat etc etc.

I'm home from hospt. Had surg on Tuesday. Did Clear Liquids ( 60cc's every hour) all day. Today I started full liquid diet for 2 weeks til my post op. I'm to get 120 cc's every hour and increase as tolerated a little at a time. I haven't had a BM but I did pass gas once. The gas pains are still a big issue it hurts really bad but no nausea so far thank god. I came off the more phone yest bc it wasn't helpings and started the loratab and thy seems to help but it tastes nasty so I have to take a drink after that. All in all it's going good. I did gain 14 pounds in the hosp bc of all the gas they filled me up with and the amount of fluids I got. I did have to get more fluids than normal bc my urine didn't look good and my kidney function levels started to increase. I'm happy to be here.

I wish the best for everyone.

I personally would love to poop! Surgery 3/11. 400mg of colase, Miralax, Mineral oil, and glycerin suppositories and I still have not been since surgery. My MD is not that worried, but when she blows, she is gonna blow!

I'm home!! My surgeon was hesitant, but he decided I could go. I'm super tired, and FULL!!! I've been trying to walk a little here and there, but I've decided it's nap time. Just wanted to check in with you all, and wish the best for every one pre and post op!

Finally home in my own bed. Just passed gas for the first time and I am hoping there is much more where that came from. I am still sore but feeling a lot better than yesterday. I had to do 30cc of liquid every 15 min and then I switch to fill liquid tomorrow. I can't tell you that I havent been hungry but I haven't really felt full either. Looking forward to sharing these pounds.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
