I found out today that I'm scheduled for April 24th!

There are so many emotions going through me tonight and no one around to talk to.

So here I am, long time reader, first time typer on this site.

Welcome Tammy! It is amazing isn't it? Approval took my breath away. I worked hard for it but had little faith in my insurance company. I am now a big fan! The emotions are intense. While in pre-op in the hospital I was laughing or crying...just so INTENSE. You will do great. Follow your Dr's instructions and it will be smooth.

Congratulations.

PS I'm 4 days out and NOT HUNGRY whatsoever! This is truly out of character. I do believe this is what I have been hoping for.....for so long. We will do it!

Judy those charms are just gorgeous! I looked at the angel one its sooooo sweet!!

Bubbles, a few days more and the gas will all be gone, I didnt get the 'burps' so much, maily shooting pains in my shoulders with me (gas getting trapped) its such a blessing when it all goes! You'll get there!!

Christy, Im pleased your ok, wow your healing quick if you were able to go out and shop etc the day after surgery, I was a real lame duck after my banding! lol, I just drifted in and out of sleep for 3 days.

369power, welcome to the group, and congrats getting banded this month....I think April is a GREAT month to be banded :D

Teachlady- I love those charms! They are cute. My Bracelet and first charm should arrive any day now! This is a great idea, I am so glad I am doing this!!!

Tracy- I got the car today!!! Wow, what a nightmare, and I am glad I am not in that business. It is a 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid!! It is green and sooo cute!

food Update- I joined the land of mushies today! It feels great. I had a 1/4 c of cottage cheese for Breakfast, 1/4 c. of blended peaches for lunch (soooo good), and the best is my chicken salad. In the isle at the store where tuna is sold in the packets, they have salmon and chicken breasts. I put the breast in the magic bullet, some minced onion, a tablespoon of light mayo (generous to make meat really wet)...and whaalaa...puree'd chix salad. There is 24 Proteins for one breast!!! So easy, mess free, and convienent. Just thought I would share!

Have a great day everyone.

DH and I went to the jewelry store not knowing exactly what I wanted. I told the clerk I needed an "achievement" item and she took me to the Pandora stuff right away. I splurged on the Bracelet (cause I'm worth it!!) and started out with the little angel. I collect angels so it was perfect. It's fun looking at the catalog and deciding which one I'll get next. I do have a very supportive hubby. Specially when he got new golf clubs while I was "incapacitated"

TINY - Of course it's normal to have pain! You're only 2 days post-op! It took me a good 5-6 days to get over the hump. Are you taking your pain meds?? They DO help....take them! coughing and sneezing are the worst!! Are you doiing some breathing exercises, too? 5 or 6 really slow deep breaths, as deep as you can, every 2 hours or so.

Teach - I looked at the link you sent and WOW...aren't those the coolest?! There's a store very near my work that sells the line, I'll go check it out! You'll have fun with that purchase! You sound like you're feeling pretty darn good! Are you?

Michelle - My hat's off to ya, girl. I HATE to cook!

Rach - OF COURSE you can join us!! There's quite a few folks on this board who have had vv high BMI's that have had great success ...DeltaDawn and JulieNYC come to mind. There's oodles of support here for as long as you need it. Welcome!

Hello all! I need to go back and catch up on all the posts..... I just got back inside after getting my exercise in for today.......... I shoveled gravel into a wheelbarrow and then dumped it out along the foundation of the house......... (while dbf was inside veg'ng on the couch!) HOW'S THAT... (do I hear a roar?? My arms are like spaghetti right now but I feel good.

I also went to my first ever support meeting today, and I have mixed feelings........ first SMALL world a woman I used to work with about 10 years ago was there....... she was banded in december and was sooo negative.... she was flat out pissed because she had only lost 27 lbs and in her words she didn't pay all that money to lose 27 stinking pounds....... (then I remembered.......... she was negative back then too) she was the first to leave.....anyway...... I did meet a couple people who post on this board.... JBtulis.. (Johnathon) he is doing GREAT, and a nice guy... and a gal that posts on our doctors forumn...... she was real nice too.....

We had a gal that lead the meeting who had her lap band done in Mexico in 2001.. her and a couple other gals were two years or more out and now struggling with the emotional side of maintaining, and getting sloppy with their fills and eating.. complacent...... (I think this scared a lot of the people who were there just for research and in the beginning stages)

I will go back to give it another chance but I'm betting a lot of those in attendance today won't.

I had an NSV today too.. I squeezed my 259 lb butt into an old pair of size 18's today.......... (with my laundry being down this entire week, I was scrounging for something to wear) ........ I had to lay on the bed to get them zipped .. but they zipped.... :D Breathing is underrated anyway RIGHT??? LOL

Anywhoooo: Pam, Congrats on your car!!!!

I am so glad everyone is coming back to post!!! Now we will see those tickers starting to move!

Terry.. I feel GREAT!! I never had any gas pain and the incision pain was very minimal. Knock on wood, but it was so much less than I dreamed. I took Tylenol the first night home after riding 4 hours in the car, but that's all I've had to take as far as pain meds. I'm doing well on the liquids...... so far. We went out for lunch today with some friends, and they all ate and I had broth. The restaurant had cabbage Soup and I asked them to strain out the cabbage. They did and it was delicious.

Tracy..... congrats on your continued success with your pre-op diet. Don't let people put doubts in your mind. You know you want this surgery and you know you're going to succeed. Look how well you've done so far! The band will be that tool that will allow you to succeed for the long run.

Hey! Glad to hear your doing well! I'm usually pretty tough but I think not getting the pain under control let it take over. I wasn't told until we were going to drive the 2hours back that I could take two of the pain pills at a time. I think I was taking the lowest dose:eek:

Do you go to the support groups on the last Tuesday of the month? I'm thinking about driving the two hours; at least this first time. I haven't met in person any bandster yet. At least not that Dr. Carter did surgery on.

I'm looking forward to meeting some others that had the same surgeon.

He and his staff have very very kind and understanding.

I'm going this month to the support group to give it a try. We can meet there if you decide to drive the 2hrs. I don't blame you if you don't. Where do you live? I live in Arlington so I'm like 10min. from doc. office. Are you feeling better now? Everyday I feel soooo much better, I'm close to feel normal again.:clap2:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
