Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Tracy- I don't know how you remember everything going on on here. Yes, I went to get my car today, but learned quickly that my Champagne tastes didn't match my Koolaid budget. Actually, they wanted me to pay $754 a month...YEAH RIGHT. My brother and I left, and got a call back 1/2 hour later, and they saw the light...but what total bullshit. I don't know how people do sales and negotiating...it just pissed me off and made me tired. Long story short, I pick up the car tomorrow, I am paying monthly pymts that won't kill me (although it is double+ what I pay now), and I got the color I want (they are bringing it up from San Diego as I type). But thanks so much for remembering, I am impressed. After I read the posts, I've forgotten what everyone has said by the time I type, lol.

Sara- I am still on full liquids. You asked if I'd had any trouble, and because I haven't eaten anything yet, I haven't. I was wondering what your doctor said you could eat. Tomorrow I get cottage cheese!!!! Never been more excited about anything ever. I too worry if I have a "spell" like you did today at work. I am nervous about that. I hope your feeling better. I will have mushies for 2 weeks, but some tuna in the Magic Bullet sounds like a treat...can't wait. I actually brought 2 shakes to the Toyota dealership today, and as my brother ate a HUGE cheeseburger and fries, I sipped on some iced tea! I am so proud of myself, and it didn't even bother me. Congrats on completing your project. I am so far from finishing...but I bet you feel so good! Enjoy your weekend!

Terry- glad to hear work wasn't TOO bad. I will be in your shoes (and Sara's too) on Monday. It has been so nice to be off, but I am looking forward to seeing my kids...don't tell 'em, but I kinda missed 'em.

To all the recently banded sisters (and bros)- WELCOME! We look forward to your posts the next few weeks!!! Heal well.

Have a great night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it sounds like all those who got banded this week are doing just great!! Congratulations to you all. I'm here at Day 9 and feeling 85% back to normal...so hang in there just a few more days, girls!

I joined a gym and hit the treadmill for 35 minutes tonight...even broke a sweat and everything! :clap2: Feel so much better now than I did when I got off work. It's a wonderful gym with everything you could want... showers, lockers, heated lap pool, sauna, spinning bikes, basketball & racquetball courts, aerobics, aquatics and yoga classes, all the machines (of course) and personal trainers everywhere! Best of all, it's only about 1/2 mile from the house and $30/month. I really think I'm going to like it there.

Other improvements are that I have just about weaned off of caffeine entirely. I used to drink 4-5 cups of coffee and 1-2 glasses of iced tea/day. Even the smallest amount has been upsetting my tummy this week and I found that I really just preferred plain old Water. You people just don't have a clue what a turnabout this is for me!! I'm telling you, this is major. Once I get completely off, I will try my best to stay off. It just makes me hungrier.

Now that I am past most of the pain and almost past most of the fatigue, I am really, really getting pumped about all of this....the 10# drop doesn't hurt either. This is looking like it's going to be a very, very good year.

SARA - Congratulations on finishing your project!!! That must be such a load off your mind. Please take good care of yourself this weekend, ok?..and get more rest than you think you need. It's not easy going back to work...the days are long and tiring.

TRACY - thanks for noticing the ticker :) I keep waking up, stepping on the scale expecting to see it bounce up a pound or two...but it doesn't!?! I'm trying not to get too excited and bracing for a bit of a gain.

ONWARD!!

Congrats on your surgery date. You'll be in band land soon. The time really does go by quickly. It seems like just yesterday, I was considering the surgery and here I am 3 days post op!! It's a great group here with lots of support and encouragement for you!! Welcome!!!

Hey April Band Buddies,

I was away for Easter and it's amazing to see how many of you are now in bandland - congrats!

I can't believe my date is now fast approaching but I have been really struggling with the post-op diet. I cheated over Easter. :) I'm back on track now but I'm quite worried I'm not going to have lost enough weight and my liver might not have shunk. Is anyone else finding it hard to find the will power? I was really really shocked at how much more I thought about and craved food once I wasn't allowed it. I felt like an addict having withdrawals, but then I guess I am!

Wow

2 days of travel and missing 4 pages of post! Amazing how this group just keeps growing.

I am home and only gained 3lbs during my trip, which is amazing because we ate very well for dinner, I thought it was going to be much worse and told my friend Thursday if I only gained 5 I would be happy, so I'm very proud of myself. I did have shakes for Breakfast and salads for lunch and boy did we walk!

Terri _ yes back to school Wed, but it is only 1 1/2 hr in the am and that is it. They are letting me park in factuly parking and my class is right there, so I know I can do it! I have to. I am so glad you are doing well and you are adjusting, I am kind of afraid of not being able to eat my favorite things, and mexican food just sounds so good, maybe that is what i'll have for dinner, tomorrow is my liquit diet and surgery time is 9:40 Monday morning! I am so glad it is early and not late afternoon. I'm a single parent and need to be home, just to be with them.

Hugs to all, now to read the last 2 pages!

:clap2: Dear All,

Wellcome to all the new members of the group(Pinkybar & Gonnabefree), its great to see you all on here. Chinchila, Im pleased your surgery went ok, take things real easy for the 1st few days though wont you?

Well :cheer2: today I bought my charm braclet!!!! Its gorgeous!! It wasnt the one I originally wanted, but the sweetie braclet wouldnt hold 14 charms (and that is the number I'll need to take me to my goal) so I bought there signiture charm braclet http://www.linksoflondon.com/online-shop/women/bracelets/267-signature-bracelet

Braclet = 14 lbs lost (= 1 stone in weight)

Charm = 7 lbs lost there after

Its a bit more than I wanted to pay, but I love it, as as the Loreal adverts say....'Im worth it' lol. I looked at the charms too in the shop, omg they are just so sweet too! I told the shop assistant I was hoping to buy a charm every month? (each 7lbs lost) she said they send it away for each charm to be soldered on, which takes about a week each time, so it looks like I'll be visiting that jewellers x 2 month then!!

Pam, You must be so excited about getting your car, I certainly would be!! Wow!!

Terry that gym sounds wonderful, Im gonna start doing gental exercising next week x 3 weekly, well that's my goal.....just got to make myself get into a routien.

Jennifur, well done on not too many lbs on while youve been away, I know when I go away on hols or work conferences its real hard as every eats and drinks all sorts of goddies!

Have a lovely Sunny Saturday everyone xxxx

Hugs Sara :)

Sara! Those charms are BEAUTIFUL!! And....YOU ARE DEFINITELY WORTH IT! This is a once in a lifetime journey and probably one of the most important requiring a lot of commitment and hard work on your part. And as for justifying the cost, that shouldn't be a problem at all. Think of all the food you aren't paying for now!!

Jenn - Glad to have you back! You're younger than me, so you probably won't be as sluggish as I was. Sounds like you've got it all worked out real well....so that makes me feel way better! Wow....only 2 more sleeps!!! I'm really excited FOR you!!!

:o:) :) :) :)

hello everyone...

I was kinda out of it when I posted yesterday...I even wrote that I left my "three" kds with my mom, but I have four...which one did I leave at home alone...heeheehee...I fixed it in my previous post.

As for post op info...I am feeling alot of discomfort, but it is not unbearable. I have been having a hard time getting any liquids in me...I just don't WANT anything. Last night my tummy actually growled for the first time and I drank about 2/3 of a Yoplait Light strawberry smoothie. When I woke up this morning, I did the dame and now I am sipping slowly on an Isopure Protein Water drink. I'm not sure of hte flavor, cause the label is in Spanish...:) .

The doctors will be here at the hotel to check on us at some point today.

We went walking last night. We stopped at a cafe and ate dinner (or drank, I guess I should say...we had some really tasty chicken broth). I was only able to drink about 8-10 spoonfuls, though. THen we went shopping for a bit and I had to get back to the hotel because I was really running out of steam and beginning to hurt. There are bunches of stores within easy walking distace of the hotel. We fly back to the states tomorrow. Looking forward to being home!

For anyone wondering, the office team here for Dr. Rumbaut is awesome. The facilities were TOP NOTCH and the nurses at the hospital were better than our hospitals in Chattanooga!! Most of the nurses don't speak English, but Dr. Rumbaut's office gave us a list of Spanish to English phrases so we could communicate with them.

Well, I'm gonna post another FOR WOMEN ONLY thing in just a second.

Good wishes and prayers for those of you having surgery in the the next days to come.

just in case anyone is wondering...I started my period just before surgery and was worried to death about what that meant during surgery...they will take care of EVERYTHING...just the doctors know! As they told me..."we see blood everyday!"

One bad thing, though. They gave me some blood thinners to ensure there would be no postop blood clots...well guess what theat means for me...bleeding like crazy...worse than after having my babies! If this is something you will be dealing with through your surgery, be prepared. Take tons of feminine products with you!!

Terry

LOL I hope I have it all worked out. My neighbor is going to take my son so I don't have to get him to the sitter an hour away and school is 5 mins from my house. The rest of the time I'll be doing lots of homework.

I am so excited and can't wait, I needed that vacation to calm down about all this, but then again, if i was not going on vacation they wanted to do mine in March.

This is going to be so great, can't wait to be on the other side. and early surgery too, I'm so glad it will be done by 10:30am

I was banded on Wednesday, and boy I am glad to have that behind me! I had an allergic reaction to the codeine, so it has been a very rough 3 days! However, I did just finish 2 oz. of Tomato Soup and it was wonderful (never thought 2 oz. of Soup would EVER fill me up!). Does anyone else have pain when they burp? It really hurts to burp, even though I know this is what I need.

Good luck to everyone being banded on Monday. The surgery really isn't as bad as I thought, but the gas pains are pretty bad.

I am 4 days post op and had no gas pains to speak of. I told hubby I must have skipped that and he said.. "ohhhhhhhhh nooooooo.. when you were sleeping you sounded like a motor boat". Gee thanks!!

But he is a sweetheart. He got me a charm Bracelet and an angel charm for the first 10#. I'll get a silver charm for each 10# and a gold two tone one for 25#, 50# and goal 80#. These are adorable and relatively inexpensive.. check it out here..

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
