Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Whew.. what a day. Ethan is here and finally napping so I have a chance to get on here. DH decided he wanted to get a little fishing boat when he got to goal. Well, on the way to our friends for dinner last night he spotted a boat for sale. He stopped and checked it out and it was perfect. We have looked at tons of boats for sale, but this one was far better than any we had looked at. He called this morning and we're going out to pay for it today!! No, DH is NOT at goal yet.. he has 28# to go so I said we can't use the boat until then, but I think I might renig on that.. lol

The weather is gorgeous today. It's only 62 right now, but bright sunshine. DH went to Home Depot to pick up the rest of the wood to finish the deck extensions. We are going out to dinner with DD and DSIL tonight and then headed to the bandshell to hear an Oldies concert. Guaranteed she and I will be on our feet dancing and singing.. ;)

Terry........ STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE!!! Take it from one one has been through it. DO NOT weigh more than once a week. You are setting yourself up to be a slave to the scale. My usual weigh in day is Sunday and I try not to even think about weighing in until then. On Sunday morning, I can hear a little drum roll in my head just before I step on the scale. If I have lost, it's fantastic. If I have stayed the same or gained, then I know I have a whole week before I have to step on the scale again!

I weighed in early last week because I was so close to -50 and wanted to know the exact day I hit it. Now I'm back to the Sunday routine.

Gotta go get some things done before Ethan wakes up.

Jennifur.. enjoy your day relaxing.. you deserve it!!! Glad you got a good night's sleep.

TracyK... I went to Hobby Lobby for the first time in my life last week. We don't have any near us and I had never heard of it before. We saw one in Port Huron where my doc is. (that's 4 hours from us). Stopped in and my jaw dropped!! I WISH I had known about it when I was teaching. Sooooooooo many kewl projects for kids!!

Hi all!!

Houdini here and I'm back!!

Terri thank you for your message..

What a couple of weeks I've had!!

First, I sliced my left hand with a scissors and ended up in doc's getting 4 stitches (sans aneasthesia thank you very much..ouch!)

Two days after having the stitches removed I had a bad fall and ended up in ER with a sprained ankle, a black eye and a laceration to my RIGHT hand..12 stitches this time,a splint,anti-biotics, a tetnus, and a TB shot (TB shot??don't ask ) and this time they were merciful enough to numb my hand for the repair work!

Then last sunday my neighbour died unexpectedly after a short illness , she's same age as me and the whole town is devastated..I'm getting ready to go to the funeral right now..she was being treated abroad in a specialist unit so her body wasn't flown home til yesterday..

Yesterday I went to doc to have my sutures removed and as the last one came out the wound re-opened itself and I got a lovely glimpse of my inner hand which left me feeling rather flushed and sick! It's not sore, but doc just bandaged me up again and said to come back next week, if it doesn't "stick" then they'll have to open it further cut away old skin & re-stitch it...yeuky!! so under this bandage there's an open wound, and I cannot get it wet..I feel yeuky, in need of a good scrub. Thank god for hairdressers, at least someone else can take care of the "head" as I certainly can't.

So needless to say violets I haven't been at my computer since the calamities began..and as I sit here typing with one hand, my visits might be sparce again until I can type my usual essays in good time!! LOL

Can anybody say Quasimodo? Limping, blackeyed scarred and stitched together!!!

Apart from all that I'm in good form and doing well!!

Did I miss anything here?

Well, we are back! Since all 3 of the kids have a birthday all within about 3 weeks of each other I decided to surprise them and bring them to Rainforest Cafe for lunch. I think they have those all over the place so most of yous hould be fimiliar with them. Anyway, it is a rainforest setting complete with rain and thunder sounds, lightning, and gorillas and elephants, you get the idea. They had a ball!! Well, except for the youngest one that will be 4 next week. She sat there with her hands over her ears asking, "mom, when are we leaving this place?". she is not really one for loud places. But she loosened up and enjoyed herself too. The employees sang happy birthday to them and brought them out a "volcano" which is this HUGE pile of cake like brownies with ice cream and whipped cream with a sparkler on top. (I only had a few bites of it after my salad).

Then I took them to Frys Electronics and The 13 year old got speakers for her IPOD and the 8 year old got a new video game, and the almost 4 year old got the movie Mermaidia. So, now we are all happy campers. I had every intention on going to Hobby Lobby and then grocery shopping, but ran into some rain and decided to just head home.

Now it is relaxation time.

Lunasa-my goodness, be careful lady!! Hope you are feeling better!!

Jennifur-I thught about rattatoui, but it just did not look at appealing to me. I am a "shrek" kinda gal...lol

Judy-boats are so much fun!! I love to go fishing or just ride around!!

Everyone have a great evening!!

TracyK you ought to try Ratatouille---it was entertaining enough to keep my 2 1/2 year old, and 6 yr old granddaughters involved, as well as my 70 year old Mom and myself!!! I will buy it when it comes out.

Tonight we are headed up to the chuckwagon dinner with DH's work group. He is finishing up the woodshed, it is impressive!!! He did a good job.

I don't have much time, just wanted to tell Lunasa---for goodness sake be careful---I am glad with all of your accidents that overall you are ok!!!

I'll try to check back in tonight.

Kat

Judy- I worked at hobby lobby in high school.. one of my faaaavorite stores.. in fact, the flowers on my cake came from hobby lobby.

Today was our wedding reception. LUCKILY it went very good for as little effort as we put into it. We got a bunch of appetizer plates for people to help themselves to, but everyone ended up taking their own plate. It worked out, so whatever. Afterward, his family came over to our house for a while.. I didn't eat at the reception except for the cake, so by time they left I was starving. We went to Cracker Barrel.. I had 2 eggs, grits, and county ham steak (1/2). Now he's playing his video game, and I am watching an extremely bizarre Youtube video my sister, her gf, and some other girl made. My sister's gf is in the background randomly flashing. I want to know what they were smoking last night when they made this!!!

Without further ado, here are pics from the reception. Nothing exciting, we didn't take a lot of pics. I loved how the cake turned out. Our gifts were good, tonight I think I'll do the thank-you notes. I get my next fill Monday and it I can NOT WAIT, I'm so antsy. Oh and one side note, we are going to bowl tomorrow night. Me and my parents use to all do professional bowling and then within 2 years, me and dad hurt our backs and mom hurt her neck. I am better, my dad is better (he had surgery).. I got my husband into bowling (I mentioned this in another post), so.. ok long story short, me husband and dad going to join a league this fall! I'm really excited. A competitive one, and we ALL need to brush up. So tomorrow night we're going to go make sure we still know how lol.

The cake, us with big cheesy smiles, feeding each other, us serving (we had to serve ourself, I was nervous about this but it all worked out fine), and then what was left.. besides the top tier which is in the freezer for our anniversary.

Ok I just had to share

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhbXzCoNugA]YouTube - we white[/ame]

That's my sister on the right. (her gf is in the background) The other video I was talking about was stupid, but I stumbled across their other videos, and this one makes me laugh. I don't know what they were doing, or what the song was.. but enjoy the giggles!

Evening, Violets...

Ethan has gone home, the concert is over and we didn't get the boat we went to look at. It wasn't what I wanted. DH was ok with it, but I didn't like the fact that it was strictly a fishing boat. You had to steer the boat with the motor so DH would have to sit in back and I would sit in front and that isn't what I wanted. I wanted one with a steering wheel and seats so we could be next to each other. We looked in the paper and found another boat for sale, went and looked at it and put an offer on it. It is a fixer uppper, but I know we can make it look really nice with some TLC. DSIL has one more he is going to look at on Monday and let us know what he thinks about it compared to the one we made an offer on. So by next week we should be proud boat owners!!

The concert was pretty good. Lots of songs to sing along with but too many people so not so much room to dance. Next week the concert is all Beatles music. That should be fun!!!

I'm off to go chat in my video program and then head to bed. Church tomorrow and a picnic afterwards. DH is getting a gift from this church.. a new robe. He's going to be soooooooooo surprised and thrilled. He still has the same robe he started out with 35 years ago!!!

Everyone have a great evening and remember.. WWJD??!!!

LAURA...LOVE the cake! Thanks for sharing the pics... you both look really happy..

VERY behind in reading posts. Just got caught up!!! Got my third fill on Thursday and it feels so good. I was having trouble with hunger. I was hungry all the time. Still couldn't eat a lot, but as soon as I ate, was hungry little bit later. So she added 1cc to my already 6cc's in my 10cc band. I really haven't noticed a difference in eating, but I am not hungry. Maybe it is mind over matter with me??? I also started back to Curves Friday, and they measured me and I have lost 36 inches since September of 06! But, the hernia that I had was very large so I can't take all the credit for that much, but still....

DENISE, I can see a HUGE difference in the pictures!!! I think you are being too hard on yourself!!!

TERRY, the bracelets are a great idea, and will pm you with my address! That is very very kind of you to do this for everyone!

JENNIFER, a St. Louis dinner meeting would be great!!

Jane

Good Morning, Lovely Violets...

Weigh in day today and I didn't lose anything, but then again I weighed earlier this week when I hit my -50# so I'm very ok with it. My next mini-goal is to be out of the 180's by the time we leave for Disney World in two weeks. DH is having a hard time with Portion Control so I know he's not at his sweet spot yet. I'm doing ok, but I still think I need a little more restriction. Next Friday will be picture day for me. It will be my 4 month bandiversary.

Jane... good to hear from you again!!

I'm off to get my cottage cheese and blueberries for Breakfast and then on my way to church. Everyone have a great day!! WWJD??!!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
