6 months out! I've had a major move from va to fl and now lost my job. So major life situations. Not that it's an excuse buf I'm only down 47lbs since surgery. I know I didn't start off as high as some but I do work out regularly. Trying to refocus and get back on track. #discouraged #frustrated

I agree, don't give up and getting a good amount of Protein helps! I've refocused on getting about 100g a day recently and the weight is coming off again. Still slow, but the scale is moving. :)

Hope you find a new job soon! Best of luck to you.

It is great to hear that you got the scale moving again.

For those of you who are stalled, On the December Post, I posted how I get my 100g Proteins without even counting dinner. Without dinner, I get at least 108 a day. I have to due to being at 80-90grams a day one of my protein levels was low a point. So Dr still has me on shakes. I don't do to well with meats, especially cooking it. The smell still effects my stomach, blah.

I started out Dec 15 at 237, overall highest weight 267. I am now 130. Size 4 pant and xsmall, small or Medium shirt depending on style and brand. My dad has lectured me cuz he thought I was still losing weight, but I haven't lost in a while now. Im right at 130-131. I'm happy about it, but protein intake is the key if burning those fat cells away and building lean muscle. Once I upped my protein, I started losing weight faster. 107 lbs in 6 months. I hope this will give those of you stalled a little motivation to up that protein. Remember if you stall, you could still be burning those fat cells and gaining muscle mass (which weighs more). For the last 3 months, I have went down pant sizes without losing "weight" on the scale. :-) don't give up. Try your darnedest to hit that 100g a day. Don't forget to work out even if it is a little walk.

How much weight do you have to lose before. Surgery

mrskbrown26

Depends on your doctor but I didn't have to lose anything bc my insurance required certain bmi and health issues which I had sleep apnea and asthma

But some all u needed besides bmi is diabetes, high blood pressure etc....

Agreed! We get busy living life and forget about the support we need and how good it feels to give it.

I'm 65lbs down, not a huge loss in comparison with some others, but with all things considered-I feel like I've accomplished a lot. My body has changed, don't recall when I wore a size 11 last or weighed less than 185. I'm 175 now and I get a lot of "hey skinny lady's" and "stop losing weight already's", "you look so good", etc. It's nice to hear but I feel like I have at least 10-25 more to lose. I'm pretty hard on myself.

I can go up a lb in a day-not from how much I eat but what I eat, so I still take the scale pretty seriously and feel like I'm far from an expert on food and getting the perfect routine. Unfortunately I have little imagination with food prep and in the cooking areas so my meals are pretty boring, lol. I do try to track all my meals in MFP, helps me to be accountable. I know I need to exercise more, but I'm healing from a knee injury.... which I'm sure is partly why the energy level is a bit low still even though I take my Vitamins. By the end of my work day I'm worn out.

Oh, and I love wearing smaller clothes, but shopping can be both overwhelming and frustrating. Expensive too!

Love it. I'm having trouble remembering my vitamins. I guess I need to put myself on a schedule.

Hey everyone. Checking in. Weightloss has stalled for me. I've actually gained a few due to the baby which is to be expected. Kinda bummed about it but it is what it is. A few more weeks til he is here then I'm hitting the gym with a fury.

Jerz, I'm very happy that you will soon have your baby. I pray that you and he will be happy and healthy. Take care and keep us informed. Congrats :-)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
