Lapband removal/bypass insurance approval

Recommended Posts

So, I just found out today that my insurance approved my band removal (as one surgery) and then bypass 2 months later (my physician wants me to wait 6-8 weeks in order to give my stomach time to heal from scarred tissue). I am so excited...but so incredibly nervous. I wish I could just fast forward to March 11 when I get the bypass done!

I've got to go through the same thing but I haven't gotten the approval for the band removal yet. They denied it the first time so I hope that don't deny it again because I had a 12 month insurance requirement and I'm almost done. Waiting to talk to the DR office today since my insurance coach told me I should make sure I don't have anything else I need to be doing. Congrats to you!

I will be thinking of you and sending prayers your way. you will do fine. Sip Sip SIp, Walk Walk Walk and Rest Rest Rest

use the pain meds to stay ahead of the pain. My pain was manageable and I had the band removed the bypass done and then a gyno came in and removed an ovary cyst and a mass. All lapascropic. I was kinda afraid I would wake up with a long incision. Or worse the band gone and nothing else done, but it all worked out. I am almost six weeks out., I see the surgeon tomorrow, I think he will be pleased with how I am doing,

Sending you hugs and positive thoughts

I only lost 30 lbs with the lap band (had it in for 1 year). I then developed massive Reflux (I actually had stopped taking nexium for 6 months...then it got so bad I was stuck drinking EAS Protein Drinks and my med was upped to Dexalant (a stronger more expensive drug for Reflex..which still doesn't cut it). My Dr. Thinks I have scarred tissue around the band area and wants to remove it to give me 6-8 weeks before bypass (without anything). Today I am having the band out...I am so scared to be without anything but I plan on eating healthy and working out (for this week it will be lots of walking)...My Dr seemed to think bypass is a better it for me (when they reroute your stomach you will not have Reflex at all) and He thinks I will be more successful in my weight loss journey....I am 250lb now and have approx 110 lbs to lose...I got this! :)

I had issues with the band from the beginning. Chest pain, nausea, at various times couldn't eat for weeks and lived off shakes. Never reached goal but did Lise a lo and not regain the vast majority of it. I was just miserable. This past summer my band slipped and my stomach herniated up over it. Was living off slow sips of Clear liquids. Fun times! Sominehad to be urgently removed at that point.

I had the band about 5 years ago only lost around 30 lbs and gained back about 50. I have a lot of pain at the port especially if I lay on it. Had problems eating so they removed the Fluid 2 years ago and the Dr wouldn't put anymore in. He recommended me for the sleeve but I've decided I want the bypass so here I am.

Well I have to say it really helps to hear I'm not alone. The band and I didn't mesh either. My weight has gone up and down and as I type this I am the same weight I was before the band. My fingers and toes are crossed for us all 2nd time has to be a charm. Lots of luck (HUGS)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
